I need to get some boots that don't have any hard rubber or reinforcement over the top of the toes. So just neoprene over the toes should be best. Any ideas?

I have some odd shape toes due to them being broken one to many times and the hard top rubs like crazy on the joints which now stick up a far bit. (Think hammer toe but worse) At the moment I'm duct taping them so I don't wear the skin off but that is getting to be a pain.

oh and I need a 2-3mm pair and a 5-6mm pair

Dive booties might work

Try a good surf shop for neoprene socks or booties. All the big names make them.

I've just seen the excel reef walker that looks like it might do the job for summer. Now just a winter boot to find.

Try sailing booties. Burke do a lightweight shoe that may suit your needs. Whitworths stock them.

I bought booties the other day and they showed me "pocket booties" that are really slim and fit, well, in ya pocket

Didn't pay a lot of attention as it was not what I was after but think this was it:

Also, you might get relief from marking exactly where they rub and punching a say 10-15mm hole in those spots. If it is cut properly with a die punch so its round it won't rip from there like a cut with scissors etc may.
I have seen that done on the side of dive fins to allow a bit more stretch for those with freaky wide feet.

I find the xcel is fine in winter too - for WA river water, which is pretty cold.

Ronstan sailing boots are good for me

My second-toe is longer than my big toe.... so no show/boot fits.
So I glue in some neoprene into the big-toe area.

Maybe try modifying something that already mostly works ?

The water pumps out very quickly. The advantage of a good seal is that there is no ingress of grit.
