I just put this in the wrong general forum.

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the boom front end replacements below/any comments on quality, or could recommend alternatives that go on a larger tube (approx 37mm)

I am going to beef up the front end on 2 2000 era fiberspar booms & was going to retrofit these as I need the larger tube diameter (I have done 1 successfully many years ago.

I can say that the Streamlined ones are rock solid compared to the plastic ones. I put one on an old carbon boom and used it for ages. The clamps are different but you soon get used to it and the formuline can be replaced too.

Hi Geoff. All of my booms are either HPL or Fiberspar with Maui Sails clamps which I think is awesome- they don't break, and they have never slipped down the mast.

Before I switched to AL360, I fitted MS boom heads on my old Fiberspar booms. Takes about 15 minutes and the MS kit includes shimes for different boom diameters. Fitting these MS boom heads made a pretty big difference, more solid feel and no slipping down any more.

This might apply, or might not, depending on what you are trying to solve, which is undefined in this thread.
I think I've posted this before, but the best boom to mast connection, IMO.
Any modern boom head that has a removable mast shim for a skinny mast is a good boom head if used this way, with a skinny mast.
Remove that shim, put one of those fat rubber shims on the mast, then connect the boom to the mast.
No slippage, no pressure points on the mast as the rubber shim spreads out the pressure. Your mast will love you for that.

Mast bender, the main problem I am solving is the weakness of the carbon front end (I have fractured 3 fiberspar front ends previously, all just at the point where the tube enters the front end, 1 being a replacement head from fiberspar).

Being 115 kg ATM I exert a lot of force on booms & did this to my largest boom (218-258) with great success early 2000 having used it 50+ times in the 18 months after the modification, though it was a challenge to get the old front end back on (I just made a custom rubber shim)

I was going to wrap the front end in a couple of layers of carbon cloth (left over from a previous project) before they fracture as a preventive measure, hence the larger diameter tube required in the front end once finished.

Secondry was the mast slippage, which seemed to be fixed by using a mast shim.
