Have used the boom on my raceboard at least 1-2 days per week since putting the cork on in March, and it is lasting very well. I used styrene rubber from Amorim (MR3), but there are other types. The cork appears to get a bit polished in the main wear area, but can be roughed up with sand paper.

I did you use rubberized cork or model cork. Does it adhere well on the boom curves?

I found out last night my mate regriped with cork, he's going to see what cork he used but thinks it was modelling cork. I reckon cork will out last regular boom grip easily!

Yes, rubberised cork. There are several types. I used MR3 styrene rubber cork from Amorim. It stuck very well to the boom curves.

I've just bought a small rectangle of Spotlight cork as a trial, I'll let you now how it goes

Not looking good this stuff is very soft, sands away like 13kg/m3 styrene. Good job I resisted the temptation to grab the grinder, you'd only have to wave it around in the vicinity and there'd be nothing left! I'll give it a try as is but I think it needs something like elastoplast bandage over the top to protect it.
And I think I've over cooked the build up on the inside, I used 3 layers of 2mm soft EVA, 2 layers didn't look enough.

I wouldn't think straight cork would work over the hump. Way too crumbly . Unless using a hard roller squeezing a lot of glue into it to hold it together before sticking it on.???
I made a 6 mm hump and it's seems perfect.

The V ridge on mine started about 25mm wide x 8mm high. After sanding to a comfortable grip ,it ended up about 19mm wide x 6mm high. Comfy as. I used some Diamond Deck grip to build up the V'd section. (felt a bit firmer). Then wrapped it up.

I preformed the tight bend with a heat gun taped the ends up to protect the cork. I could see even the slightest pressure there wouls start it crumbling away. Should be able to test it tomorrow.
So maybe my problem is that it's not round enough on the sides of the hump, they are very straight. But we'll see

Yep, It's too sharp, not comfortable, front one isn't too bad, but the back hump is not only too sharp, it's also in slightly the wrong place. If the curve was softer, it would be easier to change hand position slightly. I've got some of Imax's EVA on order as well as some scary goat tape. So when that arrives I'll rework it.
