any one the weight difference between the severne carbon and Alu race booms?

quite the same, alloy might be a tad lighter.
Stiffness is the key ! (that's what my wife says anyway)

Umm that makes them less appealing. The Alu race is pretty damn stiff anyway.
Trying to decided on what to change next season, was thinking either a bigger sail or a lighter boom to get going a bit quicker. Maybe it's gonna be a 9.4 m1 to add to the 8.6

The alu is very stiff so far as ally booms go, but you'll feel the difference straight away when you change to a carbon or vice versa.

Its definitely worth the monetary difference if you want the performance. Weight wise probably not worth it.

The 9.4overdrive m1 is about the same price as the carbon boom.
Tough choice, I have a 8.6, if the booms weight the same it's not going to help early planning as the stiffness is more important when overpowered so the 9.4 might be the answer.

I have four carbon booms, never loooked back, stifness is soooo much better and not to be forgotten : the reduced risk of a long, very long swim after an alloy breakage....

My carbon boom still going strong while I've replaced 3-4 Alu booms during the same time frame. Only have 1 Alu boom left and that will be replaced by carbon when it starts to look suspect.
