Hi All,

There are some cracks in the board's nose, following few catapults (and also despite the soft nose protector?!? that I did not expect at all)

Is there anyone who can restore to the original like-new condition including matching the paint
and, probably, adding some hard carbon nose protector to avoid this issue in future (like in the picture below)?



Tried searching on the forum but could only find a thread from 2008...
There's probably more up-to-date info on where people get the boards fixed these days

I got few places from that old thread and the SHQ website below:

Any recommendations on these places?
Maybe there's some go-to place not on the list?

If you're doing a "few catapults", then I wouldn't be fused with the paint job. as it sounds like you're still in your catapult phase. If you can learn to repair it yourself, then even better. You'll be able to turn a proper repair around quickly and be back on the water.

And forget the soft foam padding on the nose... as you've discovered.

Jeugen at Bayside Board fix is the go to man.

Photos ? Otherwise, pretty easy.

1. Clean off anything that's soft
2. Inject polyurethane glue
3. Fiberglass
4. Paint

Pad the mast instead.

Doesn't look too bad in my beginner's opinion but I would like to solve it once and for all with the hard nose protector.

The nose pad you have works better if you can mount it closer to board edge
Currently on a catapult the mast is compressing the foam and striking the nose
I suggest to do a repair first, then move the rubber forward / out to cover repaired area

I thinks it's possible that's not damage caused by the mast hitting the damages spots. It looks more to me like, the mast hit the foam, and compressed the nose causing the fiberglass to split. In that case the damage is worse than it looks. The internal structure of the nose is badly damaged.
An external fix will seal the board, but it won't take as much of a bang to open it up again.

You'll need to wrap glass around the edge. The top damaged area around to underneath. You might as well do a few layers , then you won't need a nose protector.

Call Juergen Kranz at Bayside Fix. He might not be able to perfectly match the colour, but otherwise he does very good job and charges reasonably
