Doing the non-slip on my board.
I managed to track down the right acrylic rust and got a few stickers made up. I Did a test run on one of the kid's skateboards. It came up nice but the sticker outline can be seen. I was thinking of making a stencil out of the sticker and then spray painting but I'm not sure if I want to take the risk as I only got one set of stickers and if I stuff it up then there is an added cost.
It's hard to believe but the top layer on the deck of the board just started to peel off. 2018 board and it has not seen that much action. But the "top layer" (is it called the hot coat?) stayed in place on most of the rail. I don't really want to sand away on the rail to remove the rest of it, also more decals are on the rail. But I was thinking if I could make the epoxy that I am going to roll on a little bit cloudy then maybe it might hide the outline of the stickers and also might blend with the rails of the board.
Am I just dreaming as I think my color-match skills are woeful?
Anyone got some good ideas?

Let me see if I can end the confusion or spiral it down further. A picture might of helped

Freewave blah blah
Fanatic addicted to ride logo
And mast track scale
All of that stuff lifted off to some extent when the total layer of epoxy came off.

Thought I would get off my ass and take a pic of the current state of the board.
I have left the current decal on so I can line up the stickers before sanding them off.
The tail is still in fantastic condition.
The white in front of the back foot strap was what a "pro shop" did the first time. I am going to remove that.
It looks like the fanatic logo and the FreeWave writing are painted on.
Where it says 105 I can see a faint sticker outline.
I know the answer is to sand the rails and paint the decals. But I'm just not willing to put in that much effort.
Looking for "lazy man" ideas without making the result look too spectacularly crappie.

Ah ok, Yeah I would print it out and paint it.
How bad is the outline of the stickers?

A lot of rental boards have their finish totally dead (including pads) yet boards structure is totally fine.
They re do the grip and let the boards as is.
Until the point where they're so ugly no one wants to rent them

Another option is get your stickers custom made online. Get the image to the right scale.

I finally kicked myself into gear.
I sanded down the rails to a decent point down the board in line with the front straps. Cleaned the rest of the board up and then started work on the stencil. I managed to find some really cheap and nasty plastic wallpaper that has really crappy backing glue.
I just have to put the stencil onto the board. I was thinking about using soapy water so that I can move the stencil around a little and get it into the right position. But if I use soapy water then I am going to have to clean the board down before paint. There are some really small sections on the stencil so I am a little bit worried about stuffing up the job. Any advice?

Water and a squeegee I think, are you using flattening agent in the clear?

I had to look up what a flattening agent does.
Before the board was sprayed a gloss white and while riding at certain times of the day I would get a bad glare off the board.
I am not sure if I would need a flattening agent for glare. It might help to hide any imperfections with my sanding. Hmmm
Are there any major advantages to using a flattening agent?

That's a bit of a low blow.

Is that Astro Turf ?

I restored my old Falcon 131, used it for foiling and had glued eva over the deck, took ages to remove the soft grip and the plan was a complete respray in 2k but while sanding I liked the rough look so added some stickers regripped the deck, coat of paint on bottom and done.

If you use flattening agent you will get a satin finish which will look the best.Otherwise you will get a gloss finish.

Looks cool. I like how you sprayed the red over the rear pads.

Thanks. I am going to see if I can get some flattening agent.

Finished spraying the decal.
I used water (thank you very much for that Hydrosurf) to set the decal in place, took maybe an hour of farting around, as the entire decal was one piece. Maybe if I did it over then I would make 3 stencils.
I then sprayed it with car paint which dried out so incredibly fast. Few things that I could say that I stuffed up, one being a few imperfections on the board, that I did not see, which showed up when I laid the paint on.
Yeah, happy for the first time making a stencil and also the first time spray painting a windsurfing board. It took an incredible amount of time only to come down to spraying on the paint and hoping that it would all go well.
The next step is epoxy and some acrylic dust.
