keep an eye on the papers and the local cashconvertors.....maybe e-mail all the shops with details incase the thieving scumbag tries to offload it onto one of them.

thanks windy. will do check as you suggested. admiitadly it was on the roof of my car outside my house in North Perth which was a wee bit silly but i like to give society the benefit of the doubt.

Trust me email all the shops and all the pawnbrokers (easier to get out the yellowpages and fax them all).
The crooks WILL get caught because they try and sell it calling it a surfboard or whatever cos they don't know any better.

Check Quokka every week for at least a couple of months too

People who buy off thieves, thieve feeders, are equally as low if not lower.
They are no different to thieves, other than lacking the nerve to steel in the first place.
Never buy anything from a guy at the pub etc. If no one buys from thieves generally thieves have no reason to steel!!!!

From my experience of having all my gear stolen a few years back, I'd suggest filing a report with the police with serial numbers if you have them. Cashies etc then have to check incoming goods against the stolen good s/n police database and are not allowed to sell them for 2 weeks.

That said I had a s/n for one board and cashies put in the wrong number so it didn't match the police record, but its worth a go.

This also brings home the point that its wise to record serial numbers for all gear that has them, and mark other gear if possible with indelible pen (I now right my email address and phone number on sails)

ps My gear eventually turned up at cashies in Bunbury (nicked from Glendalough) thanks to a very kind guy sensing that the gear was too cheap and doing a search on the web and finding the details I'd posted on the web. He then gave me a call and we were reunited (this was 4 months later though!)
