Chasing a no cam crossover sail like Severne Gator or Gaastra Cross (now Hybrid) etc. Couple of years old, not new. Its my 2-3x a year sail....

I love love love my 2017 GA Cross 6.4 its a wonderful sail that just feels like a more powerful and stable wavesail. I want the same in 7m plus, and on same mast .....a 430RDM.

The replacement for the Cross, the GA Hybrid (and indeed all their camless freeride/crossover sails) specify a 430SDM as soon as you get bigger than the 6.7 which is a real bummer. Still a 430 but not RDM. Grrr dunno why they did that...
A 7.2 is still on a 430 mast, if it fitted the 430 RDM there would be a lot of happy wavesailors out there as nobody wants to buy a 430SDM for one sail.

I like Gator, but once you hit 7m its a 460...

So looking at other brands with a recommended 430 RDM,

Ideas?

What's wrong with a SDM ? Endless cheap choices for sails and masts .

I don't want to buy a mast for a 2-3x per year sail.

I don't want to have to remember to take another boom and extension on the light days, rather just chuck a sail in.

I have a 7.0 NCX on a 430 RDM with the extension one hole from the top. It seems to rig nicely, unlike the 6.0 that I just couldn't enjoy.

pity you dont have a simmer mast or mast that sits more towards cc flextop.

A 7.0 Gator seems to work fine on a 430 rdm.

Simmer 2XC rigs ( 2cam 6 batton) rigs on 430 sdm/ rRom with 28cm from memory on the ect.
I'm using with a NP 100% carbon 430 with no issues and sets/ works well,
price is very reasonable and is very stable/ easy to use and cams are super easy to rotate

A sail larger than a 6.4 may exist to fit on a 430, but I don't know who's it could be. The length of extension to use a 430 is something I don't like.
I have a custom UK 7.0 , that I use a 460/430 combo on.

Using.the 430/460 combo would widen your search..445 approximately.

a SDM 460, like others have said, should be reasonable in price.
One other option is a RDM, mast extension,, North..Duotone make one, New it would be close to a SDM mast used.

the issue of using this 7.0 rarely, makes me say you still want the proper kit.

^^ There are plenty of sails bigger than 6.4 that rig on 430, what are you on about! Even the one I want is a 7.2 on a 430 like I said- but it specifies a SDM and all the smaller ones it specifies RDM.

I want one to specifically work on 430RDM- and they exist too. I'd like to know the biggest no cam for 430RDM that people are aware of.

Sandman nice to see the Gator does work on RDM so there's an option. Making me think it may be worth rigging the GA Cross 7.2 on RDM anyway just to see...

simmer 7.2 vmax rigs on a 430 rdm. the simmer 7.1 enduro rigs on a 430 rdm too

Not sure if Aerotech is available in Australia, but their Air-X (FSW cross over to free ride) 7.0 rigs on a 430 RDM. I haven't used that sail, but I've heard it is a magic sail.

Aerotech rigs on a CC mast and is very forgiving of curvature.

you live in Geraldon... do you need anything bigger then a 5m sail...

+1 for Severne NCX 7.0, you do need the 45cm extension and its one from th top, which is is slightly scary, but I use it all the time and is my favourite sail

I saw a RDM 460 for $300 the other day .

buy that .....and you can have any sail you want ..



my 7.0 cheetah has a luff of 467 .I tried my 430 with a mer 37 extension ...too soft for my liking .it lost its drive
and low down grunt .sadly .


i would go with simmer .

Lose 5kg and stick with a 6.5 instead. Better all round.

simmer is not going to work with his mast.

+1 Shifu. Ive stacked on another 6kg since TC OMA. Sure can notice it in the lighter wind.

As Choco said, check out Loft. Even their race sails are spec'd for RDMs, and work quite nicely on those. They are constant curve and not overly sensitive to bend curves - I've often used Ezzy and KA RDMs for Switch Blade and Racing Blades. The 7.0 RB uses a 430 mast.

maybe read my first post then. There are a lot of crossover and freeride sails that have up to 7.2 on a 430 mast.... but they specify 430RDM up to about 6.5 and the specify an SDM for the biggest two sizes Examples Gaastra and Severne

So as the two most available brands here want an SDM, I'm asking who has ideas for something around 7 to 7.2 that works on RDM and is forgiving of a generic mast.

I got a Simmer Vmax 7.2 here that you are welcome to test out with your RDM 430 / or even just rig it to have a look how it sets. Or try it against the other sails you consider.

Have a 7.5 NP Ryde that I rig with a 430 RDM FLX100 mast. Goes ok however think a 460 may work better!
Sail is rated for either 430/460

Hi Mark, the Simmer Enduro 7.1 would meet your requirements. Rig on 430 sdm or rdm. They are a great cross over wave/freeride sail, unfortunately probably hard to find second hand in that size. You may get a good deal on a superseded one though ^^
I use a 5.9 and 5.4 for bump n jump and foiling and think they are a great sail.

im with the simmer fans above. i would take jesper up on his offer to try the vmax. its extremely good.

on the water the 7.2 feels at least 1/2m smaller than it is and has power on tap.

its rigged on a 100% simmer mast.

The Sailworks Flyer 7.0 rigs on a 430 RDM. Being a Flyer it has a relatively small amount of luff curve and low rig tension. Very easy to rig, even with its 2 cams. Downhaul it by hand; don't need a crank. Very lightweight for a 7.0.

Yes, it is a foiling sail, but people use for finning, too.

I have rigged my 2018 North e-type 7.3 on a 430 RDM with a really long extension. It worked surprisingly well.

Definitely going to take Jesper up on the offer to at least rig the Simmer on my mast and see. Getting some good suggestions too like Loft (didn't know they are all RDM) and even though Gator specifies SDM it work on RDM, never thought about Aerotech so thanks all
