Down on the South Coast of NSW (near Jervis Bay), I've averaged 65 sessions per year over the past three years. I work five days per week however if lucky, I can sneak off one afternoon per week (depending on work load). Without work, I would easily smash 100 sessions in a year.

Spring / summer is fairly good for North Easterlies and winter / spring is good for Westerlies. Autumn is generally the quietest period.

I don't foil - use only slalom boards.

even more windy would be Denham, but jobs would be hard to find

You've spent a bit of time on the NSW south coast. You don't need popcorn.

If you don't mind cool water, Macquarie Island would be it.

Queensland is a big area. This 'part' of it has a lot of wind all year around, but I dont know if there is anwhere to sail there, and I dont think anyone lives there. :-)

Re - Willis Island. I think back in the 80s meteorologists were stationed there with all their gear. Not sure about now. Probably been replaced by electronics.

Did live there for a year. 1975, just before I took up windsurfing. It is windy, and looking back, when I was windsurfing a year so later, I figured lake Elder on the top of the plateau in the background would be safe enough, if a bit cold. Buckles Bay (on the left) would be brilliant on a calm day with only a 25 knot westerly. The isthmus is low enough not to disturb the wind too much. Trouble is if you did get blown away in the offshore westerly next stop is the beach to the right of the photo.

Seabreeze usually runs from September to about March. In Perth itself September / October and February / March are variable... you can get a good year or not so good one... but within 2 to 3 hours drive from Perth you will find wind even in those variable months.

April to August is mostly frontal but you'll be out on the water at least a couple of times a week. Throw Windfoiling into the mix and you'll be hard pushed to get any work done.

I have heard from quite a few people that have clocked up 150+ sessions in a good year.

Except Canberra doesn't get 4 months of the year were it's windy almost on a daily basis.

I knew that. But the condensed season means you have to back up day after day, jumping on port tack, to get the yearly quota.

Although if participants per head of population and the high standard of them in Perth are anything to go on, that's what people want.

You have to be flexible on the east coast, more complex for the BOM to forecast as well. But with daylight saving it's not all that bad for the working man. How good are the southerly busters that hit the 'gong at 7 pm not getting to Botany Bay until after dark?

Who wants to sail in freezing cold waters with a wind chill to match? In my opinion, the best spot would have to have warm waters...a place where a wetsuit is only an option for wimps like me

My wish list also includes turquoise blue water with a sandy bottom, so forget all those spots with sediment soaked brown wash and muddy bottoms

Am I dreaming! Perhaps there is a spot that someone has found, but they are not telling the kiters

Do you mean crocs with teeth or those old salty 70+ year old windsurfers who only have half their teeth?
