What you write is true Krusty however there is an issue I can take up with it. Windsurfing is clearly a hybrid sport. Some of its culture and feeling comes out of surfing and thats where some people are coming from. Another part of windsurfing's culture comes from sailing and racing. That brings a whole bunch of baggage with it.

You also get people like me, not really that keen on surfing, though I always did it when I was a kid, body surfing and liking the beach but never into racing dingies or boats. I like windsurfing as it gives me the ability to get out on the water and do what I like without needing anyone elses help. Its about freedom.

next olympic sailing regatta will be in weymouth in england IIRC. yep, the original home of speed windsurfing / sailing. not too many regattas held there get canned cos of lack of wind. should be one of the best olympic regattas in ages, I'm sure the brits will put on a big show there cos sailing is where they get most of their medals these days.

I was reading an article on olympic windsurfing the other day in china the windsurfers willl burn more calories than the marathon runners and have the highest peak heart rates at the games. Yay air rowing!!

I say F### it, and you can quote me on that.

BTW if a Chinese person said that, they'd probably be shot for it. I have no idea why they gave the honour of holding the olympics to that country. But then again, they gave it to Germany under Hitler in the 1930s.

Yay for sport! *BUUUURP*

Small fact about Hitler and the Olympics.

Hitler is the one that invented the torch relay.

Surprized me when i heard that.

why not just put fans along the side of the olympic swimming pool!

With the amount of money spent on setting up olympic venues the cost of an indoor windsurfing event would surely be a drop in the ocean. All the other sports use the same format as their international competitions so why should windsurfing not use the same as the PWA?

Now there's too much wind:

AUSTRALIAN team officials say they will not allow sailors to compete if a typhoon which has hit Taiwan moves on to the east coast of China and makes conditions too dangerous.

Thats a shame, the Aussies will do better in a decent wind

sailing in that crap is bad enough, falling in it could possibly kill!!!
our female 470 rep tripped on the boat ramp fell in and accidently swallowed some of the water....she was laid up for the several months and had her whole immune system shut down!!! thankfully she has recovered and is back on target for the medals...

That sucks, its probably heaps more dangerous to swim there then sail at like Pozo in nuking conditions then

Why is 'progress' put past basic life needs?

Humanities current definition of progress - messing the environment up so much that we need to find new techologies to fix it, thus enabling ourselves to say how good we are at it

The finns were racing today, I think Anthony Nossiter did well
Are they showing any coverage of the sailing? Or are those times listed before just the racing sked?
