Hi there,
Looking to get my boys aged 13 and 11 a windsurfer. I am looking at getting either a Fanatic Ripper 2.5 or Bic Nova 2.5 due to the fact they can be picked up for $400. I understand that they will probably outgrow these quickly. Which of these would you recommend ... or if you do not recommend either, what would you recommend.Would like to get a good wide beginner board with centreboard ... but they are hard to pick up cheap so I was thinking of just using my 10'6 allwave SUP to start, thoughts? Thanks :)
Either rig will do, been using the nova's in a club school environment for over 6 years, very durable little rig because they are dacron with a pvc window. No monofilom to go brittle and split.
A centreboard is a huge advantage, same club school environment uses bic windsup's, countless times I have watched learners going sideways and when I tell them to put the centreboard down suddenly they stop sliding and start sailing. A centreboard just makes it so much easier in the first few hours to feel the wind and feel how the rig and board react to it. If you can find one its definetley recommended but otherwise use what you have.
