Hey
I'm looking to get into kiteboarding and have been shopping around a few kiteboard shops in melbourne to get recommendations for gear. I've settled on getting new gear or at least a new kite as the difference between a 09 new and 09 used at the moment is very little. However one retailer recomended the cabrinha crossbow as the best kite to learn on, stating they were the best brand around, whilst the other said the cabs weren't very good and suggested the north rebel or evo, or possibly the naish cult. What do you guys think?

thanks for your help

Hi,

you will get an informed response in the kiteboarding forum. This is the windsurfing forum.

Considering this is the windsurfing forum, the only advice I can constructively offer is make sure your boardshorts go with your wetsuit - you don't want to look like a noobie!

The best advice I can give is to get a Starboard Go or similar widestyle and a rig with about a 4, 5 and 6m sails. That will get you going and suit well for the first couple of years.
Of course, the best advice you can get regarding kiting may be in the kite forums.

(btw, do you have a guitar for sale? )

I recommend not rushing into things and making mistakes.

No, he meant that a careful and considered decision would result in you taking up windsurfing
