The booms not made in 2 halves, it's the glass jacket, the carbon part is predominantly axial carbon
you're on the right path with the repairs, but you won't need to wrap the boom just overlay the crack will do the job.
Get some 25mm Carbon tape
Dress back 13mm either side of the crack, there is a thin wrap of glass you need to remove this as this is where the carbon tape will sit, don't remove the whole lot
When you do the epoxy work use peel ply and wadding, overlap the peel ply around the wadding at the back of the repair, wrap the whole lot tightly in masking or packaging tape, I found clear packing tape allows you to see whats going on.
If you want to err on the side of caution you can do a couple of overlaps to add extra strength.
I did all my repairs including strengthening the head area, only to destroy the boom (3 breaks) on my second outing, my repairs held all the other bits together.
Didn't help my ribs though
That was a good repair job Elmo & a nice new regrip wasted

An extremely nice re-grip, that material used was excellent

, shame it wasn't strong enough to resist a 90+kg muppet
