I have an AtomiQ 120 litre, I run it with a 6m Severne Gator, Neil Pryde Fusion 7.2 and North x-Type 8.2. Powerbox fins are 35cm, 38cm, 41cm and 44cm.

It is very good in light winds and up to 20knots, where the North Queensland chop makes it rock from side to side a bit.

I am thinking of a lower volume Atomiq to use in the heavier stuff, with my 6m and 7.2m I weigh 90kgs.

I was looking at the AtomiQ 110 - but I see that the new AtomiQ's come in 104 or 114 litre.

My question is whether I go for the 110 AtomiQ, or, if I'm looking at the new AtomiQ's, whether 114 litre model is too close to my current 120 litre model.

Then, I wonder if the gap to the model is too much. I do like still being able to uphaul at a pinch.

My mate is 80kgs and has the isonic 117 and isonic 97 for the heavier stuff. But I am not interested in isonics. I like it that the AtomiQ is a nice board to use as things don't happen too quickly and I can get out and cruise along nicely, and surprisingly quickly.

At the moment I am thinking of the AtomiQ 110. But if I was looking at the latest models - I don't know how my 120 litre board would relate to either the 114 litre or 104 litre board.

100 or 104

I'd be looking at the 100, I'm 85kg and use a 7m on it mostly in 15-25knts.
You could also look at the tabou rocket wide models of similar size, they gets rave reviews.

I have the Atomiq 120 and a 110. They are quite different with width on the 110L at 74.5 & the 120L at 80cm
I only use the 120L with an 8.5m sail on low wind days.
The 110 gets used with a 5.8m up to a 7.8m
Can uphaul the 110 no problems.

I have the 100, weigh about the same as you. I use a 7.3 with a 40cm fin, 6.2 with a 36cm and some smaller 5sqm sails that I use 32cm fins with

18-20kts average is lowest I'd take it out, below that you'll need to work fairly hard to get onto the plane.
If the wind drops out you can still get home, even up hauling as long as you can balance submerged to your knees, then point the nose up. Under 8 kts forget it though.

So for 20+, the 100 should be the right size for you - typically I would want the smallest board that i can get to plane.

Hi KJ absolutely can up haul it, the wider nose gives more stability for that and also tacking, have a read of my review of it in the 'reviews section'
I can get it going with a 7m in low teens no problem with a 37.5fin and have been out in mid to high 20's same sail just a smaller fin, 32.5,
You are a bit bigger than me, but if I was tweaking my board is shave a bit of volume out of it! Hope that helps!

Thanks heaps for the feedback - has anyone used the atomic 104 yet?

I have the new 114.
I use it with 7.8m Noa and 41cm fin.
I recon it could take a bigger sail but would go no smaller than a 7.0 as it is pretty bouncy when the wind and chop picks up.

Hi, Thanks for the feedback. I am kind of thinking I need either the Atomiq 110 or, maybe the new 104. I guess the new 104 will have a significant extra amount of volume, possibly to bring it closer to the 110.

I think I might drop down closer to 85kg. I don't like the idea of having to swim the board home. I think that 114 will probably be too close to my 120 litre board.
