straps or take them off. If i foil id like to be in the no straps brigade, at least to start with.
I have a spare Mistral OD that will cost me $300 to et up and running or I could use dollars to foil it. Whats the foil set up worth?

At this stage of crashing im not in straps. Im standing right on the edge to counteract the foil. I think its only possible on such a narrow board because im heavy . I understand a shorter mast will be easier but if I shorten it , I cant lengthen it again. So at this stage im just going to keep at it . I bought last years Sligshot alloy h4 foil new for $ 800. It was for a Sup board which meant it had a very short fuselage , foils are the same . Mast is around 70cm. I bought if mainly for the large foils , I was going to make my own mast and fuselage anyway . It cost $ 230 for the mast blank , $30 for the alloy rod $ 20 plastic and $ 30 for screws. Fifteen hours labor . Because the OD is plastic coated I did it this way. If I had a resin coated RB I would have simply put in a double mast track mounting system and glassed a couple layers over the top . It would have been much easier and strong ..The foil came with that fitting and I would have only made the longer fuselage . I think I may fit it to a older Xcite Ride 160 which is 80 wide. Probably a more sensible option . I think it will work , but as mentioned its probably easier on a short board .
