This one is from a single cam HSM speed freak. Am I meant to peel back the black plastic cover and try and figure out how to get the taper out? And if cannot just cut it off below the taper?




And purchase something like this glue in the taper and then trim to length

If it's only the very tip that's broken off , sometimes it's easier to extend the back of the batten. Tip, before doing anything , measure the length of the batten with the broken bit . You won't notice any curve difference if it's only a couple cm.

That just pulls out, the tube, tapered bit and skinny bit of battery are just glued together

Loved it. Very forgiving, good on foil and fin.

On fin I have moved onto full on race sails, and recently I have been freerace foiling on a point 7 single cam F1E which I like a lot.

I am hoping to get my son into slalom with this speedfreak

Just the tip how do you extend the back of the batten?

This is what the batten tip looks like. About 3cm broke off. Wondering if I could insert 3cm of aluminium rode into the leach batten cap to add length?

I don't think there's enough depth in the adjuster to get the length you need and still support the back of the batten . I would be thinking of cutting the batten about a foot from the back and gluing in a solid pin , ( alloy rod, thinner batten or something like that ), extending the cut the 3 cm that you need. Make the pin around 20 cm long . The back part of the batten doesn't bend , so solid if fine.
ps, pre measure the total batten length with the broken bits . Clean up the broken tip . Take off the plastic tip of the broken part and glue it to the new tip. Measure length of batten. Now you will know exactly how much gap you will need in the repair . Rough up the repair pin a lot and clean the inside of the batten. It doesn't need to be a super tight fit . Araldyte glue will work fine it it's a wobbly fit , superglue if it's tight . First glue in the rod about 8cm into one side and let dry . Then you can measure and mark exactly how far you glue in the pin on the other side .Wrap repair in electrical tape .
