I'm in the market for a new boom and really fancy trying a one piece alloy boom with the new narrower bend curve (straighter arms and a last minute turn).

I had my eyes on the Aeron, but my the local retailer doesn't have any in stock and suggested getting the Pro-limit instead as it's the same boom.

Is this the case? I heard some great feedback on the weekend about the Aeron and wouldn't want to end up with an inferior product just because it "looked" the same. The websites all seem to talk about the same spec - narrower grip area, same alloy..

Any advice would be gratefully recieved - and no, I won't be buying carbon

hey crash hows it going? yer i've owned both, i had the aeron boom, it was the freeride one, got the bigger so it would fit my 5.8m, this one has a smaller grip than the wave and was wider, great boom and heaps stiff, way stiffer than traditional alloys have been, just didn't like the width and grip diameter, wanted the wave but couldn't get one, 3 guys i sail with have them and are stoked, they are nothing like the prolimit, i have 2 of the prolimit booms different sizes, i got these because i couldn't get the aerons at the time, pretty happy with them, the wave is quite narrow, but i'm short as you know, and i prefer this, the bend is similar between the 2, the prolimit has the better front end but the back adjuster clips are a bit average, there better on the aeron.. and the prolimit has nice grip too, but softer and it damages eazy.
basically there both great boom, and are a great price, think you will be happy with either one..

Don't buy Chinook Carbon booms, they are mean't to be bomb proof. I have now snapped two and they where both new.

Aeron booms would be good I reckon, Matt at Auswind will look after you!

Hey Russh,

How have you been going? Yes my Aeron RDM extension was looking pretty sad the other weekend, but the guys at Auswind looked after me!

I think the carbon extension fail from time to time if you are consistently using the same setting. I have a friend who went through three carbon extentions (Chinook) last season and has now gone for the ally one and has never had a problem since.

I have now noticed that NP no longer do carbon extension.
