Yep, I tried the same thing making my own, and had the same slipping problem. Good to see that someone seems to have solved that problem though.
Hey Farang, how about selling me your job lot of used clam cleats?

I found both the P7 and unifiber AO stayed in place when on the water, but they do slip when there in the trailer.

The simple fix to use heavy duty zip ties, no more slipping. I cut the rope attachments off on the P7.

ah ok, I kinda read it as the attachment method slipping, but could also mean the cam buckle slipping.

Mine have plastic cam buckles and not had and slipping on them, the Unifiber AO is only 1 year old and on my least used boom so not sure about long term. But my other two booms both have the P7 AO fitted for 3-4 years and have been fine.

I referred to the both of them. Buckle is not slipping, nor is the rope loop which is attached to the boom...so nothing is slipping - rock solid thing - that is why I love it. You may have a buckle slip due to the webbing which is not a good quality. Also Point-7 Vario HARNESS LINES had that issue, but the new ones version 3 (=yellow coloured) they dont slip at all as they have changed the material/pattern of the webbing.

I also rinse those webbings with a fresh water after each session as I dont want to get any salt build up there, which may cause slipping...

The cam buckles can slip if the springs get corroded or weakened, or if the webbing is too flat. The Sailworks AO uses a metal buckle and webbing that is ribbed, which makes for a good grip by the buckle.

Metal buckle grinds the carbon booms :-( . That plastic one is a lot better - I have both of them, but not using the metal one anymore. Furthermore new version have the plastic buckles and the old version have the metal buckles. Metal one works in a different way as it is spring loaded, but plastic one has no spring - it works by friction.
