A year and a half ago I bought a second hand AL360 carbon boom Slim from 2012/2014.
The difference between aluminum and carbon is VERY noticeable (in terms of feeling and especially wear) and worth the money!

Currently I have two issues with the AL360 Slim boom.

A. I had to replace the lines of the boom clamp and the outhaul.
I've already tried all kinds of lines and gauges, but all keep slipping in the cleats.
Only a line with a jacket(?) works for the ouhaul, but it keeps on wearing out very fast.
The clamp line i have to secure with a knot.
1. Do more people experienced this?
2. Which lines and/or which thickness belongs/works on the AL360 boom?

B. There is a little play noticeable (also when sailing) on the adjusteable boom end.
I suspect the double pins of the locker clip are worn in.
1. Does anyone have experience with solving this with new double pin clips?
2. Will they fit an older AL360 model?

sounds like your AL360 needs a DIY refurbishment. New adjustable clips and a new rear plastic cleat/pulley section. AL360 sell these parts direct or you can order them from AL360 dealers in various countries.
I have three E3 Slalom booms from 2010/2011 and have replaced the clips and the boom heads a couple of times. The pins on the adjustable clips do wear out or snap off, they normally last me around 5 years before replacing them. I use adjustable outhaul so not needed to change the rear section. But the teeth do corrode, so the rope slips.

The rope is slipping because you are using cored ropes. Which line the name says has a cord running through the middle with an outer casing, so in a way you are only cleating off the outer rope and the inner rope can move, you are also only wearing out the outer rope.

buy some chinook lines, think they are 5 or 6mm from surf sail or call your local shop and they should be able to help.

I use Amsteel line for outhaul and now harness lines too, name says it all.

That line has a centre core as shown in your pix, get a good 8 strand line like the Chinook, its a bit staffer but doesn't wear out any where near as quickly and cleats off properly too.

thead your NEW OH rope through the cleat and tie a figure 8 knot. This is the loop. Rig sail and when at the clew thread the loop through the clew (port side) and over the hook next to the cleat. Gently OH and check that the rope isn't crossing over it's self causing friction/locking it's self then pull the tension on to where it needs to be.

Turned the 'adjustable pin clips' and the play is much better. Will buy a new set.
To replace a boom clamp is an option but first i wanna try a fitting rope/line because the old ones didn't slip.

@Madge:
The ropes/lines aren't slipping because of cored (with a jacket?) lines.
The cored line fits/clamps good in the clamp for the outhaul but it jacket(?) just wears out so quickly on the clew.
I tried lines with no core (Dyneema Formula). Those are to thin (3.8mm? perfect for downhaul) and slippery.
So I'm looking for the right thickness lines with no core/jacket.

Is Chinook line a rope brand or uses Chinook a particular rope?


Are there no rope/line fetishist here, who can exactly tell what rope is needed for a AL360 boomclamp and outhaul rope?
