Dam, i have to get a skinny mast and one of those north downhauls.

I think rigging is the worse part of windsurfing. It would be good if all downhauls were like north and we all had skinnys. Sometimes when the winds up I cant even be bothered rigging up.

if you ever get a chance to have a lesson with Matt P do it. He is a bloody great dude and makes having a lesson on the water really good fun along with knowing his stuff.
I had one with him last year only for 1 hour as the wind died but it was great!

Personally, I like to take my time with rigging, get it right or as close to rather than adjust out on the water/beach.

Agreed, although it's hard to resist temptation when all you want to do is get on the water!

De-rigging is more of a pain if you've had a big sesh...but if you're with a few mates, and in no hurry (knocking back a coldie), it can be a good time to tell them about the big air they missed seeing you do, or in my case catapults!

Agree with timford about Matt Pritchard. I was in Maui for 3 days and met up with Phil McGain (who I'd met previously in Aus). Phil was going to sort me out with some gear as I wasn't there for long, but Matt just said why don't you use my slalom kit and I'll spend some time on the wave gear. I ended up having his kit for three full days and had an absolute ball. Great guys, both of them.

Shameful plug for my time in Maui, but really, the hospitality these guys showed was awesome.

Me too, I see it as a zen thing. I take my time rigging up, stretch my muscles, and offer a silent prayer of thanks to Huey for providing such lovely conditions.

The fastest rigger ever has to be Tom Burlinson from the 1986 aussie movie "Windrider".

My memory may have it wrong, but I recall that late for competition he tries to jump his car (with sailboard strapped on top) onto the departing ferry. He misses, and the car sinks into the lake. Onlookers are horrified. And then POW! Suddenly he erupts from the bubbles of the sinking car on a fully rigged board and powers away to make the competition in time...
