Recently acquired 3 nearly new 2016 WARP sails : 6.3, 7.0 and 7.7 . These came with the correct length North masts : 1 Platinum and 2 Gold with Power XT extensions. Yesterday I rigged them for the first time and found it very difficult popping the foot- batten cam onto the mast on the 2 smaller sails and impossible on the 7.7 . I followed the sequence and tried using more or less than the 80% recommended downhaul along with more and less outhaul. Also the zippered openings are to small for me and tore up the back of my hand and wrist while trying to pop the cam on. I know the battens are factory pre-tensioned but should I try loosening it or maybe adjusting the cam itself? Can I try using a stick or something instead of my hand to push down on the cam?
Thanks for any feedback . I will give it another go today.
Hi Bertelo.
The foot cam is #1 and the top cam is #4.
Are putting cams on in this order?
cam#2 on first, then cam#1, then cam#3, then cam#4
if cam is stiff to go on, use a little less downhaul.
check cams are not fitted upside down (it does happen).
Warp 2016 does not have factory batten tension (this is 2018/2019 onwards).
You need to put your hand inside the zipper and push on the cam, not the luff pocket.
You need plenty of outhaul tension too.
I hope this helps.
