This is the great news many have been waiting for. It nearly didn't go ahead after volunteers were so disheartened after the attack they received last year from one of the competitors. In the 3 years I've been to the event it has had awesome conditions with winds up to 35 knots one year, and sailing every day except for one day in the first year. Please guys get behind this event and if you can find the time in June come along and see just how amazing Green Islands sailing is. And get a personal perspective on how well run and unbiased the event is.

If you can, get there a day or two early and sail out to Arlington reef for some amazingly long runs in protected flat water, then drag race your mates(or rivals ) back to GI over 8-10km of open water.

It has been great to meet some wonderful and talented sailors from around the country, hopefully we will see some new faces there this year to enjoy the stoke and positive vibe .

Hands down the best winter sailing escape in Australia

Great news, love this event and everything about the trip north on and off the water.

Be strong Justin you will get over the guilt the minute the plane takes off from Sydney.

Fantastic! I've volunteered at this event since its inception at GI.
A well run event at an amazing location. Well done to the organisers and sponsors in supporting this wonderful competition to take place again in 2016.

Buzzy I also remember 2014 when it was up to 35 knots. How about you Muz, you where there!!!

I happen to have leave then, so looking forward to it. Taking gear as per the forecast this time. Will be great to catch up with some of interstate windsurfers again. Great event, thanks for running it again after the accusations etc, lets keep the peace this time so it can continue to happen this year and until I'm in a retirement home at least.

Just got off the water after my first session at Green Island for the year so was stoked to see the event going ahead for 2016. Awesome conditions this arvo - even gave up sunset drinks for a sunset sail. It'd be great to see a good number of competitors for 2016. Should be great sailing and good times.

We need a day care centre on the island so some of us can balance it! I'd Love to do do it again, have my 1hrs overpowered in choppy water well sorted these days!
It's such a great spot both the sailing and non sailing side of things, a great place for non sailing partners to get away for a week also.
Always a great crew of people, smoothly run with a great no stress keeping it real vibe.
Hope Billy is on the boat and camera again and they don't let those bloody croc's out!

Great news without a doubt one of the best weeks of racing of my life.
So many great people all there for the same reason to have fun and windsurf.
Thanks to all the organisers who run a professional competition.

The Ferry cost is normally part of the entry fee.

I've been looking forward to this event since last year and was so stoked to see the dates announced. But after an argument with the front and back tyres of a 4wd and a resulting fracture to my heel(anterior process, no surgery) and damaged tendons I'm left wondering if I'll make it again this year. After last years health issues I was looking forward to being at peak fitness and enjoying the friendly rivalry of the event. With 5 more weeks in a cam(moon) boot and then physio etc. for the tendons, I'm hoping to be able to limp my way to the waters edge and enjoy the fun times. There is no way I'd miss the event regardless of my competitive fitness level.
Unfortunately, I never managed to get the registration of the car that ran over me. However, a witness said it was a NSW registration with Exocet and Maui sails stickers all over it driven by a 10 foot mad man with a gps on his arm

Oh buzzy, sorry to hear about your accident.

Is anybody staying on the island. I rang a couple of days ago and they said they couldnt accommodate but to try again three weeks before. They said the half price for competitors still applies. In my view its a really good deal. Im not really a ferry guy for the sea sickness

All go for green island.
People are having issues paying on the site but just do it as it registers your name on the entry list they will sort the payment out somehow.
Allready some increadable names on the entry list.

I have just heard from Reservations at the resort at Green Island. They have more rooms available for the week of the Nat's.
So if anyone had trouble booking on before it might be a good time to try again!
Only 33 Days to go! Anyone else excited!

Just found some old photo's on the net of GI in the 70's. I went there as a little toddler in 1970 and remember going out on one of the boats that's tied ups to the jetty. Looks a little bit different these days...

And this is these days
