I started saving for one two LTd V4 2014. Maybe we can get any discount..
not sure what size to choose ...? I am 80 (summer) to 85 kg (winter

How heavy are they, Antoine and Julien > What size boards they did use?

I think that is right size for me 25ktn and my 8.0 m2

Antoine is above 100kg and Julien is around 95kg (tall bloke)
Sean'o might be able to confirm this, it seems they are all taking on weight to go faster.
I don't have this issue, I'm already fat !!! :-)

Macro, from what the local RRD riders say here, there are huge (better) differences between the V4 and V5, save a little more and get the V5, seems to gybe better and go faster, all you need with a 8.5 and 25 knts !!! ;-)

I know who went 52 knts but slalom has become irrelevant how many people race now days? GPS sailing has become and is the most popular form of speed race sailing hands down look at how many people participate the numbers don't lie.
To have only 4 events for the sports top professional sailors is very sad imagine if there only 4 pro tennis events or golf events around the world, not sure what has caused this but if it doesn't improve slalom will die and yes Antoine is a champ.

With you on that one Choco, sad to see a world tour resumed to 4 events....

even worse for the girls : only two events
Imagine training all year, begging for sponsors, and just doing two events.

Sad

Has our sport (at pro-level) suffered from too much evolution into too many separate categories? There's so much talk about cricket now having test, one-day and Twenty20 but windsurfing now has: Slalom, Formula, Speed, Wave, Freestyle, RXS and other course races such as Raceboard, OD, Techno etc?

When I watch a pro-slalom race I often think it's a bit of a shame that the event is such a simple format (when so much is at stake) knowing that these guys can do so much more that that.

I think the PWA should run the Slalom events in windy places again.

Maui
Australia Tassie
Holland
Germany

There is heaps more top places. They could have a gps one hour format as well..

They must be thinking of something new otherwise Slalom will be a thing of the past again

Maybe each PWA competitor should have GO PRO web transmitting directly to TV viewers.
Mounted on the end of the boom for example.
Then technician TV team could mix , and provide the best video shot from desired point of view,
This way we could sea almost the same that windsurfer see and identify with him emotionally.

The main problem of PWA championship is lack of proper online video report. As for AC Youtube will be ideal..

Basically you need to be 100kg or you're wasting your time. The small few of lighter guys getting up there like Steve Allen, Ross Williams etc are just freakishly talented sailors. Alberto wasn't that fast till he got to 105kg like he is now... Get fat go fast!

We got a bit unlucky with events this year; Fuerteventura and Holland cancelling the slalom to focus on freestyle at the bequest of the PWA board...

Next year there is 8 events potentially. Margherita, Korea, Costa Brava, Fuerteventura, Holland, Turkey, Sylt, France. We will see... Slalom isn't dead in Europe... It's probably 60% of the market for most brands...

I have heard this rumour also ... but it's not on the Provisional Calendar for 2014 as yet ... MAKE IT SO! Would be so nice to not have to travel 30 hours to get to events each time :-)))))))))))))))
