Hi all,
Anyone give me some advice on some free ride gear..... I'm after a 2 sail and 1 mast combo, sails sizes probably around 6.0 and 7.0. Would prob prefer a rdm mast but not vital. Anyone run this set up and are happy with the way both sails rig on the one mast? Don't get much tow these days so this will be my entire setup + 114 board

You'll have to find a 7.0 that rigs on a 430 mast ,there are a few around .

Severne NCX 7.0 for lighter airs and NCX 5.5 for the heavier stuff. Both could be run on a 430 mast. Very quick sails, ideal for freeride.

Gaastra make a 7 that rigs on a 430 too.

That bloke (Dippa) was going to use an NP mast in an NCX. I wonder how that worked out?

Also make sure both sails and mast bend are the same.
And another also , try to get the biggest gap , Mabee 7.5.
If your buying new it will be easy.
Reserch second hand.

I reckon a 6.0 & a 7,0 is great....sizing ...I went to Fiji for 2 weeks only took 2 sails 6.0 & 7.0 and it was the 2 perfect sizes .a real treat having a good 6.0 ,my favourite size .

I'm 95 kgs.

it leaves you open to get a 5.0 later ...and a 400 mast.

Neil Pryde - 4.5 fusion to 7.5 ryde on a 430 mast. You will need a long extension for the biggest sails. Also small sails on a 430 mast will not handle the gusts that well if you're light.

Where in Fiji did u go and what type of sailing , when and how did lugging your gear go ?

i went and sailed off plantation island ,magic island is close by .

get yourself a good bag .1 board 1x mast 1x boom 2 sails .keep it under 23kg ,i paid for extra bag,
needed clothes ,Fijian people are alway keen to help carry bags ..it cost extra on the boat ,but was worth it
stayed at club fiji ,before heading to plantation ,
not the best ,but ,did sail on a off shore day .
Sheraton has a cross shore wind ,but had a ball and wind everyday at plantation .There has a small sandy island you can sail out to.
A lot of sailors hang out at musket cove ,so done some drinking hic....Be aware of Fiji bitter ,bloody sore head the next day.
i had a 110 litre board 6 and 7.0 i would go back to that awesome seabreeze. it was july -august

Have been to Fiji a couple times ( non windsurfing ) and know about the beer . Been there , suffered that , it pays to pay more and go the international safety beer Hienican , the maccas of beer !

Thanks for the suggestions all. I will check out the severnes, think I will rule out NP due to $$$. Simmer Style make a 5.9 and 7.1 (enduro) that rig on a 430. Anyone have any feedback/ experience with simmer style ? Can't find many reviews online

Hi Corker ,great sizing if only buying two .
Ive had a couple of simmer sails before,I would buy another .
