Super random question but being a noob and after having having thrown an iRig (Large) and my JP ExploreAir in the back seat and taking it out in 15 knots yesterday it made me wonder about the possibility of foiling...

I still have my centre board in and was just trying to stay relatively dry but when I got the connection and got moving it seemed that with the right board and foil I would have been up.

I asked the guys at the 1 windsurfing store in this city and they said they'd never heard of it but didn't see why not.

The blow up board and sail are perfect for travelling and schlepping around a bay on holiday but I'd be curious to know if I could realistically set my sights on a similar setup with a foil and blow-up foil board.

The iRig doesn't have a fraction of the power of my traditional rig (which is actually super nice for very forgivable learning) but would it have enough for a foil?

Perhaps just getting a wing foil might be easier?

Its all gonna depend on how much power you can get out of the irig when you pump it. Low power sails will work for foiling as long as they pump bigger than their size

Big HA foils also respond well to bouncing so less sail power needed to bounce up.

+1 iRigs aren't really intended for generating large amounts of power and aren't that comparatively big, either; more for beginner/kids generally. I've seen videos of kids foiling them, though. RRD used to make a compact windsurfing rig, not sure if it's still available.
