Both light, easy to rig, lots of shape and power, both perform better when downhauled more than some other foil-specific sails. This does hurt the low-end pumping a bit but really improves slipperiness at speed and pointing ability. Both work ok on a fin although the FR is better in that respect.

I have the older 4 batten Flyer 7.0 and the FR 8.5 so this isn't really apples to apples, but some differences: the FR ventures out of its wind range at the high end more reliably. I also think it's probably faster and better suited to faster, higher aspect foils. The Flyer is very easy to handle and rotates more readily where the FR often needs an extra pop. FR foot is more extended which makes it lock the gap down better but is also more cumbersome to tack. Both very well made although after five years my Flyer is starting to need longer extension so it's obviously stretching out. I'm undecided which to replace it with though - I like the higher-aspect and stability of the FR but like the simplicity and RDM compatibility of the Flyer.

I had a 7.0 flyer. that sail was abitch to uphaul. and didn't really use it that much . a 6.0 would be better for me.

The 6.0 FR still takes a RDM mast while the 7.0 FR requires a SDM mast.

For non FR, the older 4-batten 7.0 takes a 430 RDM. The newer 5-batten 7.0 can also take the 430 RDM but works much better with a 460 RDM. I have both sails.

The non-FR 6.0 has been the sweet spot for the Flyer line.

I use the regular Flyers in 5.2 6.0 7.0 and 8.2 with i76 and 84 wings and slingshot levitator 160. The fr is more of a race sail, more top end speed

Severne should work I think. I like to rig my 7.0 on NoLimitz 430base/460top which yields a slight hard-top - slightly more stability and power up high. I think the Severne masts have similar properties.

Don't know why the 7.0 should have been particularly hard to uphaul unless it was really under down-hauled and wouldn't rotate in the water.

just any 7.0 I big to uphaul....mainly in winter. I couldn't get enough grip on the uphaul with my gloves. also... with my 5.7 wave sail I takes me about 12-13 to get up on the foil. my 7.0 was around 10ish...maybe a tad less. I figure a 6.0 would be somewhere in between.

A 5.7 wave and 6.0 more regular sail won't be that much different in dimensions as wave sails usually just have a higher/smaller foot. For example, the Flyer vs Revolution (6.0 vs 5.7) are just a couple cm different in mast and boom. If you want more power, you're going to need to go bigger in either wing or sail.
