Hoi all,

I have been wind foiling for two years on a SS76 and a SS Wizard 125. I'm a regular wind foiler, going back and forth and touching down during jibes. Nothing spectacular.

I love the set but now I want to progress in the wind foiling with more speed. Therefore I bought a Starboard Racefoil Alu (with a 800 front wing and a 255 rear wing). To make my set complete I looking for the right wind foil board. I can by a Starboard Isonic Foil Slalom 81 2021 Carbon Reflex.Is this a board which would fit my wing? And is it maybe to difficult to foil?

Contact Starboard, since the foil and board are both made by them they should know better than anyone!

What fuselage did you get, the 95+/105+/115+ or something else? Depends on the foil generation.

You may be hard on a nice new full carbon board like that.

Do you want to get full cammed sails to go with your new board, or just plan on faster free riding?

I've seen the 800 being used on a lot of different types of boards from custom freeride foil to severne alien to big wide 95cm boards. Just depends on fuselage and other factors and intent. There's a lightweight here (~60kg) and he runs an 800 or 725 on a severne alien and pretty small waves sails. 105+ fuselage. But cammed sails and slalom board will be a different experience.

It'll fit your wing perfectly since they're really from the same generation with the same design brief. If you're looking for maximum performance Starboard upgraded their Slalom-Foil boards the following year with longer cutouts and a more sophisticated approach to the tuck-line, and then upgraded again this year. Expect MUCH higher speeds with much less effort than you get with the Slingshot stuff, and expect slightly more effort to get foiling in marginal winds.

That 81 is a very fun board but won't point quite as high as 91 and 95 CM boards which offer more leverage. If you don't have a dedicated foil sail a good slalom sail 6.5-8.0 will be a good match. The 800 wing isn't as good on wave/freestyle sails as the Slingshot. The Starboard setup likes you to be hiked out and the SS likes a more upright posture.
