Don't know anyone that does lessons. But I think Jesper from Simmer Style Australia in O'Conner in the past had some big Slingshot boards and beginner foils he would lend people to get the first two hours under their belt. Maybe give him a call: simmerstyle.com.au/

You can also try Revolution Board Sports in Osborne Park. Don't know if they have any beginner gear available at the moment but they helped me out in the past as well.

To be honest if you are an intermediate or better windsurfer you should be able to pick up the basics in a couple of hours. Slingshot has a web site they the Foil Academy which will give you a break down of the basics. It's free: www.foil-academy.com/

There is also a pretty good video by Balz M?ller that helped me when I started back in 2020:

Lastly, there is a pretty dedicated and friendly crew of windfoilers at Dutchies and Point Walter in the mornings if there a decent Easterly. The OGs being JJ, Simon and Jonah. All of them gave me a lot of tips when I started.

A lot of the brands have tutorial series, too. Starboard, Duotone, (iirc) NP plus some excellent videos from Cookie. I agree with the above - if you are at a barely straps and harness level, you can definitely give it a go on your own and, if there are some locals who have some time on the water, all the better.

I think the windfoiling section on this wiki is still pretty up to date: windsportatlanta.com/wiki/Video_Tutorials

Thanks guys. Really need to experience it before I buy. Don't wish to buy it then realise I don't like it.
I could give Jesper a call. If he has some demo gear to rent out, that would be great.

Are you willing to travel? Or any mates that foil? We have extra kit down here, happy to share experiences.
if you're a competent sailor then you should be able to fly safely & in control within an hour. Follow instructions tho
if you buy old kit it may or may not make learning easy/ quickly. Mix brands and compatibility might be compromised.

Was advised that aome YCs run courses, but need to be a member. It's an option.

Hi Baldy - like Obelix, Im also just started Wind surf foiling. Got a great rig - but no idea. Im either looking for lessons or someone to watch (Point Walter & Applecross areas) but no problems to travel. My latest problem is water starting. Any help is appreciated. PS-sorry this is my first post and not sure if Ive done this correctly.

Well, if you must, but be careful. I've seen cases where stitches and hospitalisation were required as a result of lacerations from the foil.

Me, I just don't risk waterstarting any more.
