I think Ben or Scotty on the livestream said the Patrik foils hadnt long been delivered to the team, so little testing. Thats a result for them. Loads of PMS yesterday, it got tiresome to watch.
Both Patrik sailors have no full on slalom sails in their selection. They have full on foil & foil/fin hybrid.

Nico Prien was in 2nd before he fluffed a gybe. Good to see him doing well after he decided to bin his job with Starboard to have more time to concentrate on racing.

Nice to see varied approaches to things including foil and sail design.

A couple of things from an OCD mind. Seeing cut outs with such sharp angles feels not quite right. It's like having trailing edge wings on a plane at sharp angles. I'd love to see some CFD modeling of it because it looks like you don't get quite as crisp a release as you would with cutouts more perpendicular to the water flow.

And the screw standing proud of the stab... obviously it works - they got great results - but I can't unsee it.

Thanks for the posts!

You've got me thinking about those cutouts. Makes me wonder if they are more angular not for straight line but touch downs when carving during the jibe and the flow is hitting it at an angle. Don't really know though

Maybe the designer from Patrik will show up and tell us, he has before.

I heard the Patrik Aeon fuselage has an aluminium fuselage and a Titanium one for peak performance.

I wonder how the other brands have developed over the year too?

Congratulations Patrik team.
I am fascinated by the future Research and development in the windsurfing foiling space.
2023 will be the year of peak speed 40kts on the foil.

Patrik shared some details on the new foils in this form:

surf-forum.com/forum/thread/27328-neuer-patrik-aeon-foil/?postID=365871

We are planning two price categories and the cheaper one is really cheap to what it can do. But cheap doesn't mean bad and we let our riders decide which construction they'd be happy with if they'd never ridden the best. We identify the different constructions with the abbreviation DNA and the higher the number, the stiffer. But we will only offer two variants otherwise it will be too complicated. For example, the rear wings are very close together because the rigidity made the most difference and the price makes less of a difference given the small size. We had to build two molds for the mast because the thickness makes an extreme difference in stiffness.
The stiffness of the front wing is a bit less and the cheaper wing is still stiffer than 90% of the other brands??. The Slalom mast is 11.4mm, the thinnest on the market and only available in 95cm and only one construction. The Course Racing is 12.5mm to be reasonably stiff with the 110 fuselage and larger front wing. The CR mast will be available in two constructions. Front wing: 375 / 450 / 550 / 650 / 750 / 900. There may be a 1000 if the 900 has too little power. The 900 has only just arrived in 5 different constructions with the drivers and is being tested first ?? Rear wing: 160 / 195 Fuselage: At the moment only the 100 with 3x different mast positions for individual preferences. All in aluminum and titanium. The Titanium is thinner and stiffer. Mast: 95 / 100

According to this list, all Patrik riders registered the 550 as the largest wing and then the 450 (Alex, Will) or 375 (Michele). These are pretty small sizes compared to the other brands, but seem to work. files.pwaworldtour.com/._Registered_Equipment.htm

Well recognized ??.. - why we can ride about 100cm2 smaller than everyone else, but unfortunately I can't tell you today because it's a main reason why we have more control and are still fast. We don't want to tell you how to do it, otherwise our competitors will change their concept...

I'm gonna try to get a look at this set soon. Small front wings must be something cool happening with them.

I had the awesome experience of racing against Alex in our summer this year and also testing alongside Patrik on the foils they are now using. I can tell you in both instances they were bloody quick.
