Is there going to be a big difference between the 1000 front wing and the 800 in stronger winds or would I be better going straight down to the 550 ? Mast is 95 fuselage 95 and 330 tail wing . Thanks for your help

Yeah quite a bit of difference unless you are super light try the 800 first

82kg , problem is it is not possible to try first so expensive mistake if I get wrong one unfortunately

In fact of the 95 fuse and your weight i would say 900 frontwing instead of 1000.

Already got the 1000 which is great for light winds just looking to increase my wind range

To add to the confusion there are more options now:
Slalom wings: 725 & 650

The 1000 wing is designed with the 115 fuselage and a 255 rear wing.
I don't think the smaller wings match well with the 330 backwing
Now there is an additional mess with regular and plus fuselages
Regular and -2 backwings

I'd suggest to ask Starboard for some advice to get a balanced kit

I notice a difference between the 900 and 800 wings, so I think it would be bigger between the 1000 and 800.
With the team set I like the 800 75 fuse and 330 stab I high wind. Works as high wind option with 115 and small stab too.

If you want to sail in medium wind max, the 800 will be great and you can still use it with more wind by decreasing the stab angle.

If you want to use the 550, you'll need at least 15/20 knts to enjoy it (can be use in less but it will be slow) and also you'll have to get the 255 stab. Again, I'm sure it can be used with the 330 stab buy will probably not perform well. I haven't try this configuration though.

I've used the 1000, 800 & 550 on the 95 fuse all with the 255 stab and they are a good gap between them. 1000 to 550 is probably too big a jump depending on experience but the new 650 might be OK as a 2 wing option. The 255 stab would also increase top end range of both front wings. If you have the standard 95 fuse you can make your own shims to reduce stab angle and increase top end range even further.

The 800 front wing, 330 rear wing and 95 fuse is basically the GT-R set up, so that is a really good setup.

The 800 is a great all-rounder for most conditions. I use the 550 with the 330 stab (95+ fuse) in 16kts+. It is really stable with the 330 stab. Used with the 255 stab I find it requires a lot of back foot pressure to keep flying and is unstable.

I agree with Boston that the 800 is a great all-rounder. The 550 needs a fair amount of wind to get going, but I find it only works for me with the 255 stab, I find the 330 unstable. I find the 330 needs too much front foot pressure. Whereas the 255 is just right. It would be interesting to get the tape out and measure Boston's set up compared to mine, as clearly something is very different. (He only lives 5km away so we might get round to it one day)
My point is that it is hard to offer exact advice on what to buy as there are so many different variables.
Best if you can borrow off a mate to test it, where do you live?
