At 80 kg and with biggest sail of 8m how much if any benefits are there in going for higher volume board? I have a super cruiser foil and a gtr ( 1000 front wing ) . Thanks

For 8.0 and/or GTR1000 go the 150, no question

If your go to sail is the 8m, the benefit of the bigger board will be the width so you are further away to the rig and the extra volume to keep it floating and not bogging at low speed. If you have a smaller sail like a 7m max, I would say the 125 should be pretty sweet. I have the 125 and my biggest sail on it is a 6.5. I have an 8.1 but wouldn't use it on that board. I really like that board for its ability to be light and responsive. With an 8m it wouldn't feel so nimble. I can not speak for the 1000 wing as I run the 800 but I am 65kg...

Well I've bought the stingray 140 on your recommendation. I've the starboard 95 cm mast and fuselage and 1000 front wing 330 rear . Would I be better with 115 fuselage and if so do I need smaller rear wing ?

Well I've bought the stingray 140 on your recommendation. I've the starboard 95 cm mast and fuselage and 1000 front wing 330 rear . Would I be better with 115 fuselage and if so do I need smaller rear wing ?

The 115 with 1000 front will maximise bottom end and sailing angles - but I find the 95 a bit easier to handle if I'm overpowered, as it will beam reach comfortably whereas 115 doesn't
Definitely need 255 rear with 115, either original or 115+, the 330 is too big for the long lever
Original 115 is fine, but shims with 115+ add tuning range for sure
Interesting that the new slalom foil racing solution is longer fuselage (eg Starboard 105) but smaller front wings

For stronger winds ( if I stick with 95 fuselage ) what front wing would you drop down to from the 1000? ( thanks for your help !)

Standard 800 works fine for me, have never bothered to try anything else with GTR
If you have the 95+, shims do allow more tuning - or just use slim washers, small angle changes on rear wing make noticeable difference

I've got both boards - although the 125 is my wife's - I have used it a few times before she exclusively claimed it !
I'm of a similar weight and use the full Starboard foil set up
my thoughts:
I'd not use a larger sail than a 7m on the 125.. I used a v8 7.2m, which was great for going fast on..as the sail liked to be well powered up to get to a releasing sail shape.
we now use either a sailworks 7m flyer or 6.8m phantom iris Z as the largest sail size for my wife.
She using the freeride 1100/ 95+ /330 or 255 tw with -1.0/-0.5 shim.


For the 150, I've got the new 8m V8 foil sail to use with it.
It's the one size, which does it all with the Starboard foil set... 1000/900/800 fw and 330/255 tw on a 95 plus and 95 mast.
i had the standard 95 fuselage and bought a 1000 fw to power it up.
However since getting a 95 plus, I find I'm using the 1000 less and less.
I only use the 900 or change down to the 800 with a 255 tw on a 95 plus fuselage.

When the wind is solid, i now change down board size and sails (to a foilX and 5.8 /5.0m with a SC) rather than use a smaller sail with the 150.

my suggestions .
get a 95 plus fuselage..it makes trimming the balance of the foil through different wind strengths so so much easier.
I trim the board with -0.5 to -1.0 shims with the 255tw ...you can tell the difference
The 150 foot straps and mast base are set up to use with the 95+
I have the old 95 fuselage and never use it anymore

get a 255 tw to go with the 330 tw then you are fully set up.

Yes. The 330 on the back of a 115 will have you running back and forth on your board for pitch and altitude control the 255 is much better suited.

I'm 85/188 and I use the 150L freeride in pretty much all conditions. sails from 5 - 8 (I prefer 7m2). I use the 1100 freeride front with the 330 rear on the 95+ fuse and a 95cm mast. Great combination. It's nice to have a little volume ...
