Hi, I have a old 2003 Go Board, with a deep tuttle finbox. Do you think it's strong enough for foiling?

How did you GO!! I have a 2004 GO 165lt and have just purchased a Fanatic H9 Foil and am going to give it a Go! I hope the box hold up. I may try some bigger washers or even a plate on top to spread the load. I am unsure how it is going to go but want to get into this foiling. If I can do it I will buy a new board foil ready but don't have the cash to outlay on trying it out. I live in Wodonga so hiring the gear is not an option.

Daz my H9 has just arrived also. I have a cheap (free) JP slalom with a deep tuttle box, my H9 bottoms out in the box so the mast mounting plate sits about 5mm high. I could just grind the mast but will get the box modified and strengthened instead. My mates foil, different brand also sits a little higher in my JP, but his doesn't have the base plate.

I'm a foil virgin so take my advise with caution. I'd say just use the Go, if your mast plate sits flush that will give a bit strength and definitely use bigger washers. If all that fails get the box refitted and reinforced.

Firie That is what I was thinking/ Use it till it breaks and then get it fixed or get a new board. I have measured the depth of the box and it is 89mm at the front and 80mm at the back. From what I can see this seems to be an extra deep Tuttlebox.
I have read there are Tuttle box (Small), Chinook Deep Tuttle (not as Deep as the Deep Tuttle) and the the Deep Tuttle Box.
What is the approx length of the H9's adapter (front and back)?

Daz, if you mean the plate at the base of the mast, it's aprox 195mm long x 55mm wide.

The bit that goes in the Box. The 51.768 and 67.48 measurements. Is that what is stopping your foil from going all the way in.

Yes the 51.768, fits one end and sticks up a little at the back.
My problem's not the foil base it's the deep tuttle box isn't deep enough. My JP has recesses in the deck for the fin screws which shortens the depth of the box, hope that makes sense. I could just grind/file the mast base but because it's nice and new I'll get the box in the board sorted. At 89 & 80 you'll be laughing

Dazman, How did the GO 165 and the H9 Foil work out? I've also got a 2004 Go 165 and was wondering if it would work as a good entry to foiling.

It's been winter here and not much wind. The first time I had a go it felt like it might of been too heavy. I moved the front footstrap all the way back and removed the back footstrap. Last weekend we had 14 - 18kts worked great. Had my first real flight and it was an amazing feeling. nice and stable. Had a touchdown then got back foiling. then had a stack. Water was freezing (melted snow water). Put the foil away so I would stay out of the water. I have just placed a large plate on the top of board to spread the load. Have not used much put I am confident it will hold up long enough for me to get the hang of it. I purchased a 2018 Fanatic Falcon 129lt (Foil Box) but don't want to use this until I can get some sustained flights.

Good to hear, and thanks for the info! I plan on giving this a try in the spring (Northern Hemisphere).

I just wanted to add that I'm using a 2010 Starboard Go 122L board with a Windance PowerPlate to spread the load on the bottom of the board with a Slingshot H2 wing setup. I have 20+ sessions on it and the board has held up fine.
