Have now tried the Freeride 1100 with 95 fuselage enough to add my 2c
Standard 500 rear wing - I expected to hate it, but actually it is very easy and balanced - went straight to -2 shim, forget other shims unless you are just starting out - great at respectable cruising speed, but 500 is too big if you push for more
Change to 330 rear is faster, and still works fine on 95 fuselage, takes a bit more speed to fly
Overall - Freeride is FUN, and keeps a steader ride height than Supercruiser, but tradeoff is less waveriding ability
There are faster foils, but I leave that to younger bodies now

I still use the 500 stab quite often as the foil is fun and easy to use but still fast. I use the 255 -2 if I want to go faster??.

I think the most dominant factor for the lift correlation with speed is done by adjusting shims for Starboard Foils. I think Berowne also posted about it.
Changing stabilizer angle of attack by shims, causes change to front wing angle of attack therefore lift.
If you are interested how FR1100 compares to M1000, similar surface 1000cm2 vs 1100cm2 and span 1000cm2 vs 800cm on 115+ Fuse (actually on 115++ because on a SB Go Bard) with 255 stab here is more info.

Went from Supercruiser to Superflyer 1300 wing, 102 fuse, 330 stab, -1 shim is nicely balanced on FoilX125 for me. Was looking for a bit more range for when the wind started to push 20 knots and got the 1100 freeride wing. Found it very back footed, have added +1 shim and is nicely balanced now using wave sails 5.7-4.5. Difference is probably the fuse length...
Best speed so far is just under 20 knots, no fear of breaching. More in it I think but not chasing speed.
I'm with Peter it's a great fun set-up

I'm with Peter it's a great fun set-up

It sounds ideal set up for wind foiling with possible speed development I'm finding it difficult to stop my current foil kit(aspect ratio 8 fuselage 900) from breaching above 20 knots. I've adjusted sail mast positions , harness lines, boom hight, shims on stabiliser and a more aggressive stance, but get a instant smash with no time to react I'm probably pushing the kit beyond what it's designed for I'm thinking it's probably because my kit is advertised as wave / wing /surf foils so considering going starboard freefoil or maybe GTR as they are designed for windfoiling my target is to achieve 25 knots .

Hey Nerdycross, love my speed sailing on fin! If conditions permit for ****s and giggles might rig one of my warps 6.2/5.4 and see what the 1100 wing can do...
Will get back to you, my guess is Gtr will be a better choice

The free ride 1100 fw on a 95+ fuselage and 330 tw is my go to wingset on my
Foilx 125.

its fast enough ( got a 24mph peak out of it, this week) and it's just easy cruising and gybing in flat water or swell

its a massive shame starboard haven't got a smaller version...I'd love a medium aspect free ride 900 front wing

for my set up
With the foot straps in the inner positions ( back straps not on centre line)

I use a minus 1.5 deg shim if I'm using foil specific / oriented sails - np freeflight or Goya fringe.
otherwise for standard wave sails I have to use a bit more tw angle to balance and use the minus 1 deg shim.

Not it sure where the back footed feel comes from ..
it could be differences in fuse length ?
However, as I haven't really dialled into the differences in length and how forward the front wing lies in comparison to the new evolution series and the older plus series.
its just a thought.

The FR1100 is my favorite front wing for windfoiling among the Starboard front wings I have. That includes the SC1700 that I started on, and the 1300 that is easier and more fun but needed a bit more wind. Later got the 800 / 95+ combo that was fun but harder to control and at times scary. Eventually got he FR1100 with the 105+ fuse and like that the best - fast enough but easy to control, even in chop. My top speed on the 1100 (20.5 knots) was within 1/2 knot of the 800, but I'm slow, and had only ~ a dozen sessions on the 800 and 1100 before deciding to spend more time winging (at least for now).
The 105 pushes the front wing ~ 4 cm further forward, IIRC. That gives a more balanced feeling (using a Stingray 140). With the SC wings, I used the front holes, which also moves the front wing 5 cm further forward than in the standard setup.

Just measured my 1100 /330 wings on the 95Plus
Front of mast to leading edge of 1100 fw -
not measuring the fuselage bulb
= 36.4cm
Rear of mast to trailing edge of 330 tw = 42.3cm

So my front wing is way further forward on the 95 plus







Obviously these measurements need to looked at, in context with the position of the footstraps, to see if the board is set up to be rear or front foot pressure oriented.

Mine is definitely front foot oriented

Thanks for that RuddeBos! My front straps are rear and inner most position and mast foot all the way back. The most front footed I can get. Makes gybes easier IMHO.

if you're not a little bit front footed, how can you take out your foot out of the rear strap, move it slightly forwards towards - a rail to initiate a gybe or tack - and keep the foil flying?

without trying for speed, around 22.x knots/2.sec (using the 95 fuselage).
on the 105 fuselage with a 255 tail wing, just under 25.

but that was using a slalom sail, when i switched to a freeride cambered sail, i was 2-3kts. slower while trying for speed.

no breaching problems so long as your setup is balanced and you're not oversailed.
easier to go faster (more stability) with the longer fuse.

if you use the 95 (Plus/Evo) fuse as a baseline, the 102's wing mount positions are as follows:

* front wing: 8cms. closer to mast
* tail wing: 14cms. further away from mast

Also, I mounted the wing on my older GTR foil ... I know it doesn't make any noise .. but I can now hear a whistling. Should I sand it and where .. a bit scary on a brand new wing ;(

My max speed on an 1100 is just under 25kt, on the black 115 (non-plus) with a 255 -2 stab on the carbon IQ mast, under a Flyer 7.0 in about 18kt of wind, slightly broad reach, flat fresh water. I weigh 100kg, board is an Alien 155.

I've tried it with the 115+ fuse, which was very hard to control, even with a negative shim. I now have a 95+ fuse and am eager to try that combination but haven't had a chance yet. I'd be curious to see how a larger stab would work but don't own one. Maximum speed with the 1100 is slightly lower for me than with the IQ 900 wing but it's much less demanding to ride and foils up slightly earlier. Very smooth to jibe without losing much speed. I suspect the friendliest version might be something like the 105+ coupled with the 330 stab but I've got too much gear already.

Lezardo the noise you talk of is more than likely coming from your Aluminium mast,
Regarding the mast, if you want to go faster then a carbon mast is the answer, Starboard make few different models and always the stiffer is the better choice, but any carbon mast within your budget will be a lot better than your aluminium one

That's what I suspected, the carbon mast makes a huge difference ... less drag. Related to the noise, I thought it was the wing because I don't have any problems with the 800 front wing. May the whole set vibrates differently with the FR1100.
I have tested the FR1100 only twice, in low wind I also felt it more backfoot .. hard to lift it up with my default shim setup which is -1.5 .. may be -1 would help in low wind conditions.

The default -1.5 shim is for 15-25 knots. For 10-12 knots, the -0.5 is recommended, and the +1 for 7 knots.

The carbon mast makes a big difference for the FR1100. It's not just the drag, but also overall stability, and how much sideways pressure the mast can handle.
