What the F** Door was that you I saw heading out this afternoon. Why did you not introduce yourself. It looked like the wind picked up for you and the waves were sooooo smooootth. I will be there tomorrow for an early foil as the tide gets a little low over the reef by 1 pm. Although I think it is going to be even lighter than today. If not tomorrow i am there most days till Dec
Its funny you say that about Kanaha I was talking to a wave windfoiler from the east coast that I met last year and he said it was so easy to wave foil at Kanaha compared to the east coast. I know for sure if it was hard I would not have as much fun as I do.
Yeah, It was me I had a great session.
It's quite Gusty in my opinion also the water is messy as hell outside the reef. Also you as lining up with many more craft and unlike windswell you need to be in the right place at the right time.
I hope to foil Wed. Will be around longer but only have the foil gear until the 6th.
Glad you had a good day.
The outside can be disorganized especially when there is a north swell. The wind swell can get really good with less ground swell and strong trades for a few days and i find it best when is builds up over the outer reef past uppers.
You are right traffic can get a little busy especially with folks that did not get the wave etiquette memo. When things get too busy for my limited ability I sail to uppers, camp one or even all the way up to specks to avoid the crowds.
However for me its all about the north swell over the reef once you figure out who to follow (the locals can read the water so well) you can just pick up the swell on the outside and start carving on it for what seems 10 minutes. And with the wind 90 degrees to the north swell I can carve both ways on the face with power in the sail or go down the line like on a windsurfer - go figure its like a windsurfing
if you like I can see if I can gather some windfoiling equipment from some friends to get you out on the water if you are staying longer
