Shorebreak said..CoreAS said..Shorebreak said..CoreAS said..Its been a lot of fun testing both the phantasm PFI 730 (and PTM 926) so if you are a fan of the infinity 76 wing you will love the PFI 730.
The i76 was my first slingshot foil that I ordered 3 years ago with one mission at that time and it was to get the perfect foiling gybe.
The hover glide foil disadvantages have been well documented on the forum, with salt water bolt and corrosion issues, foil weight etc. and I feel the phantasm 730 has addressed all of them.
I have tested the PFI 730 many times before making the video and for my weight (200lbs/90kg) feel that in winds 14 to 24+mph will be the sweet spot.
If the wind is 8 to 14+ I will use the PTM 926 HA
Slingshot has many HA and LA wings coming down the pipe for high winds, stay tuned for that (there will be a PTM high aspect 730 as well)
Hey Mate, looking to get into the new Phantasm gear.
Have been sailing the HG gear (i76 & i65) but with the shorter fuse for windfoiling. I found the shorter mast gave more carving ability in the waves. Only used the long fuse in real choppy conditions to calm things down.
Have you tried the Phantasm shorter fuse with the 730 or 926? Just wondering which fuse to go for.
Going to be using the Phantasm gear for wind foil and wing foil so will need the short fuse just not sure if I need the long one.
also have you tried the PTM1001 yet?
Hi Shorebreak
That's interesting that you prefer the HG short fuse for windfoiling, I always found the short fuse a bit pitchy especially in the gybes.
I have always used the long fuse for both wind and wing foiling (with the HG et up) but with phantasm I use the long fuse for wind foiling and switch over to the short fuse for winging.
You can use the long fuse for winging if its windy but in light winds the foil does not pop up very easily, the short fuse is much easier to wing foil pump.
Not sure if this actually helps you make a decision on choosing one length fuse! If we get some wind this weekend I'll see if I can test the short fuse with wind foil.
Lastly, I have the PTM1001 on order so haven't tested that wing yet, I'm hoping the shipping container is not buried at the L.A. port with all the Christmas stuff

Thanks for the reply, I'll be interested to hear how you go with both the short fuse and the 1001 when it turns up.
Looks like the phantasm short fuse has the mast a lot further forward than the HG. The HG mast needed to be a lot further back in the tracks on a mates Naish board than his Naish mast. We worked out it was because of the long 'neck' on the HG front foils.
I found, with the mast all the way to the front of the tracks on the i76, the Wizard 114 was balanced for winging and the front inboard straps were in the perfect spot. I wonder if this is the case with the different Phantasm short fuse. Are you using a dedicated wing board or a Wizard when winging?
Using the short phantasm fuse is going to bring the front wing further back that's for sure and yes depending on each HG front wing and they all have different necks. On the wizard 130 these are my track settings for infinity wings.
i76 at 1.5
i84 at 5
i99 at 6.5
The wizard 130 didn't come with the inboard front straps for winging but you can still use it OK, I just moved the HG foil all the way to the very front.
I use a dedicated board for winging, the Takuma 5'8" x 27 @ 95 liters. Takuma foils like to be mounted far forward into he tracks but Phantasm and HG foils are set much further back. This is catching some people out when you mix and match foils and board brands the center of lift is all over the place.
Just got notification the PTM1001 is on its way so I'll post a report when I get to try it out.
In the pic this was first day testing the Phantasm PTM926 for winging and was using the longer fuse and it was a good wind, that foil is very quick, it smokes upwind.
