They're really expanding the range, its awesome! Ofcourse I'm a competing brands' ambassador, but the new Slingshot line does objectively look very good. I think especially the quantum wings will appeal to a lot of the hoverglide riders wanting some more performance. I saw this document a month ago already and posted it but was asked to take it down as it was intended for dealers only. Dont know if thats still the case.

I like looks of these wings but honestly don't see how SS can ever introduce a high performance, high aspect wing as long as they're using such a vulnerable Fuse-to-Mast connection system. I know they're reluctant to obsolete their own very successful older designs, but until they introduce a system which isn't relying exclusively on the strength of the bolts I think other brands are going to shoot by them.

We've seen this before - Windsurfer refused to depart from rotomolded Polyethylene and Mistral, F2, Fanatic and even custom glassers just blew them out of the water (and out of business) within a few years.

I am assuming you are referring to the HG fuse to mast connection. The Phantasm fuse to mast is excellent.

The best fuse to mast connection is one that is solid (i.e., one piece) like AFS, I have hit manatees, sandbars, and more and my fuse mast connection is still perfect!

I am assuming you are referring to the HG fuse to mast connection. The Phantasm fuse to mast is excellent.

Phantasm is the same as SAB correct? Ie: 4 tapered sides with two 6mm bolts in tension alone.

Phantasm 3 6mm bolts for mast to fuse.

Phantasm foil is completely different from the hover glide. Oversized mast foot to fuselage and one piece mast and mast plate.
Super stiff, and excellent construction.

Phantasm fuse to mast connection looks significantly more solid than the HG. The pocket and 3 bolts to spread the load. The HG system should have had a similar design. I would be happy with a redesigned fuselage where the mast inserts into it but still allows using the HG series of wings and stabilizers. Purchasing a new fuselage would be ok. Having to replace the whole system will not.

If Armstrong had fuselages and wings suitable for wind foiling I would go with them over SS. Armstrong noted in one of their promo/info videos that he will always design newer gen hardware to be back compatible. Wonder if the SS next generation Phantasm or whatever they call it will be back compatible with the current Phantasm?

Friend and I use the SS HG kit. Too me the fuse-mast connection seems a bit sketchy. We both cover our bolts with a few wraps of plumber's tape. Supposedly reduces the chance of bolts vibrating loose. Ti bolts. I don't apply heavy torque. Just screw them in firmly. Haven't had loosening. Marked the bolt head with a Sharpie to prove it to him. He applies what I consider excessive torque. He feels his bolts still loosen up. I think he deformed the mast threads with his excessive torque. Are the mast thread just machined into the aluminum stock or is there a harder metal insert? One day this season he managed to shear both bolts. Bit of a pain to remove the sheared remnants of the bolts. At least we know the i99 wing will float itself and the fuse. Anyone know if the i76 and fuse with the 42 stab wing floats? Next time out will toss it into the water and see what happens.

I still have my hover glide 76 but i don't think it will float but I might be wrong. Mast to fuse bolts just replace with 316 stainless and lube with marine grease or tef gel. Sometimes I will sail a place with a bit of shore pound if it all goes wrong on the way in at least the stainless will just bend.

i76 on standard fuse with 42 stab definitely does not float in fresh water. Proved by my gear (bolts snapped in waist deep water--found), and a friend's (not found). Just replaced my bolts with A4/316. McMaster-Carr.

I can read it's stiff, and IMHO it seems very well built, but how stiff is it compared to the most stiffest on the market (F4, Taaroa, IQ) ? Has someone any idea of this ?

i'm looking for a very stiff mast (especially in torsion) for a medium to high wind combo with probably the 730wing and slingshot 114.

As you say preferred foil brands is regional or tribal depending how you look at it

I have foiled the older NP/F4 carbon foil and that is a really good stiff mast but we do not see much Taaroa foils here and starboard seems to be popular on the west coast & Central regions (US). I have not foiled either!

Slingshot has 2 separate mast lines the 72cm geared towards prone foil, the 92cm geared towards wing/wind foil and 102cm kite foil.

Then the other slingshot mast line currently has 103W (W meaning wide body) this mast is VERY stiff and soon there will be 87W and 125W these masts have been tested for wind foiling.

I have been testing the 730 front wing on the 92cm mast, 872 fuse, 400 rear wing and it performs really well in lighter-medium winds (10-16 knots), I am waiting on stronger winds to see how it will carve in swell and waves etc.

Thanks for the info. So far, only light groundings at trolling speed. One launch site has a series of slightly shifting sandbars. Just at the right depth to snag your foil if off the foil or riding too low depending where you cross or where it has built up. Usually visible. Especially if the sun is overhead to behind you. So no real good excuse for hitting it. At least I should be able to recover the i76.

Friend who sheared his bolts was debating between aftermarket 6/4 Ti replacement bolts or 316 Stainless. He doesn't trust SS branded Ti bolts. He went with some pricey USA manufactured Ti hardware (ti64.com) at ~$10/bolt. Local boat shop has 316 at a fraction of the cost. 316 has ~2x the tensile strength of 6/4 Ti. But not bomb proof. Sheared a 316 chain plate bolt on the sail boat. Sailing friends think it was defective or over torqued.

I remove the fuse from the mast for transport and storage. But for those who don't . If unaware. Beware of galvanic corrosion if using 316. Also the threads make for a risk of crevice corrosion. Pit and crevice corrosion are couple issues with stainless that result in failure especially in salt water (chloride). Underwater use is also an issue resulting in possible failure. Why only dolts use stainless anchor shackles. JMHO, grease is a must if using stainless bolts to attach the fuse on an aluminum mast. T-gel is a bit pricey, but sticky stuff. I just usually only need to apply fresh plumbers tape. Bolts seem to still be coated with gel after removing old tape.

AFS and Lokefoil are two French made foils with a solid mast to fuselage connection so no failure due to screws, I have only used the AFS W95, it is very stiff and durable. Cannot imagine ever using a SS, other two piece mast and fuselage foil, with the things I have hit.

It would be great to see Slingshot setup a small number of dealers in key locations with a full demo kit set. With this many options available picking the right components could be tricky.

Measuring and posting specs is not there strong suit
