I am wondering if there is any foil available like they are using for Moth hydrofoils. It appears Taaroa foil has a module somewhat adjusting. Could someone comment on the ride of the new Taaroa foil with adjusting foilflap?

Why don't you just sit at home and watch video?
Then you can PRETEND you are out there doing it.

Making better & more efficient foils wouldn't take the fun out of the sport. Ask riders of mountain bike ebikes who use the power assist on climbs to get way more downhill runs in for the same amount of time.

Adjustable foils could provide a huge speed advantage changing from high lift to get out of the water to low lift & low drag configuration once flying.

I agree, have thought of something just like that to get up easily, and then level out to reduce drag, but I now get up so easily on my AFS Wind95 foil that I stoped thinking about it!

As a. Beginner, you think of all sorts of crap to help you get going.
One you get the TOW in, and start to progress, you learn to work within the system, and upgrade rather than innovate.
That goes for every sport.

On a Moth or other foiling dinghy the sailor weight is between 50 and 65% of the total mass. On a windfoil setup the sailor is between 65 and 85% of the mass, plus the rig can be dynamically shifted. So while dinghys need a foil which automatically adjusts height, wind foils just need weight shift.

Adding complexity won't increase performance otherwise racers would be doing it.

If reducing the overall camber of the foil wouldn't increase its speed, gliders wouldn't bother doing it with a negative flap setting. Not all gliders use flaps but those that do generally have better top end speed.

it's a lot more than "Once you learn how to do it right, you won't bother". Foils with adjustable camber via elevator or flap can produce more lift at low speed AND less drag at high speed.

Totally agree... with both sides of the argument. The lift needed to get flying at 10kts is totally different to what is needed and wanted at 20kts so something like this might help you get flying with a smaller wing (less drag) and then stay in control as speeds increased.
But the control is interesting. How would you have self levelling flight I ride height and still be able to control the foil and turn in to a gybe or on a wave face?

Oh boy, took years to get no texting while driving laws passed, now they want us to be playing with our smart phones while on the water and in-flight, yikes!

I am waiting patiently for this technology to mature. It's a no-brianer.
