I'm thinking of replacing my Starboard Superflyer.
it was great fun to learn on, but would love a foil with a cruisingspeed of 20kts.
My board is the RRD 180 (120L) pocket rocket.
I think the RRD WH Flight will suit my needs.
Anybody got experience on that foil?

this is what i already know.
allthough it has much resemblance to the starboard race foil, the RRD is meant to be ridden in a freeride stance. ( more upright)
With sailsizes from 4.0 up to 6.0.

will it be able to cruise at 20kts?
And still be able to do some carving at lower speeds?

I learned fpiling on the wh flight. Good foil ,good in light wind also but moved on to a full carbon starboard race after1 year. For more speed and stability at max speed.

I would suggest a starboard freerride if you like starboard again and more speed. But if you like the wh flight dont get the version 1 with the 120cm fuselage. At speed onstable. Version 2 has 110 fuse and different rear wing.A lot better
But still when reaching max speed i didn't feel relaxed . It whas only my first year foiling but i feld a lot more relaxed on the carbon race and speed whas a lot higher ..


Rrd had optional an 100cm fuse also for the wh 85 flight

what ever you buy make sure that the parts for it are actually available. Like wing stabs & fuses that all fit together. Guys here have multi foil sets in their garages because a bigger wing wouldn't fit what fuse they had and so on so more complet sets need to be purchased. im on Patrik and they are ALL interchangeable and available thru race range. Race set carbon & alloy, wings fuse mast & stabs. New AEON set has all its parts interchangeable within the AEON range. Patrik has thought this thru for us. Simple, boom!

That Patrik gear sure looks nice as long i don't look at prices.
i'm not looking for a complete new setup. (Yet)
just looking for a affordable way to gain some knots.
so looking for pre-loved complete foil or wings for my existing starboard setup.(superflyer)

my goal is to reach a comfortable way to do longer reaches at about 20knt cruising speed.
but still riding in a freeride stance. (Upright)
this is important since 1 of my knees is fixated and therefore does not bend at all.

I also have a Superflyer and I can ride that up to 18 knots with my SB Freeride 150 bord. My Superflyer modell is a 2023 with 102cm fuselage and I saw at 2024 model Superflyer 2 has a 99/31 cm fuselage a lit bit shorter. I was thinking to go to Freeride 2 or Freeride 2S(sport) but my personal intuition say that If I buy a less front wing will be my Superflyer exactly the same as a Freeride. So I will kep Superflyer for super light wind condition day and change the wing in a stronger wind condition. The problem is that Starboard change every years fuselage system so I need to bet shore to find a compatible wing.

I recently bought a used RRD WH flight. (Later model)

In my opinion it is pointless to fly hooked in in a harnes with the superflyer.
Its great to cruise and carve arround strapless and harnessless.

the WH flight is different.
i still can have fun without straps and harness.
but once hooked in it gives a nice boost and more stability.
Now i hope to have more glide so that i can finally nail a gybe. (Which still feels near impossible to me)

We are doing Nm over 22knt and alphas 20knts. Second hand Patrik about $2200 (on the B&S ads ) new can be over $10k. A more upright stance isn't intuitive to higher speed as leaning out gives leverage over the sail& wind and makes breaching less common. add to what you have or buy what can be added to for future proofing your kit. Mates that I sail with are constantly peeved about not being able to get SB a it's for their setups. One guy has a number of complete sets to cover the wings that he wants to use. Madness!

What size is the wing on your foil set up? I'm not familiar with superflyer. Supercruiser I am tho

Superflyer is 1300cm. I had this same setup and conundrum. Got the freeride 1100cm to achieve the same but 102 fuse was unsuitable and had to use maximum + shim to make it usable but was not much fun having to push all the time.
Went with Sabfoil and have not looked back. I don't particularly care about speed, more about the ride carving on swell both powered up and cruisey rides.
Speed wise have seen 22-23 knots with on the dial with upright compact stance in solid swell. More than enough for me
My advice would be forget windfoil specific brands/setup. Look at foil brands that are pushing winging that offer windfoil fuselage and provide continuity of compatibility. Duotone, Sabfoil,, Slingshot, Axis for example.
Starboard is a waste of time and money in my opinion with freeride windfoil gear

Superflyer is 1300cm2
i am also annoyed by starboard changes something every year.
and build quality is not great ether.
(had to make slots in stead of holes in my board to fit the mast.)
and holes of fuselage and mast did not lineup either.
(and this was a storebought brandnew complete)

the used rrd wh-flight cost me ?300,- (+\-450 aussie money)
its only 770cm2 and needs a bit more speed to get going.
but once up on the foil, the amount of lift is the same as superflyer but with more glide and topspeed.
money well spend i would say.

Too true, couple of good sessions in a row in a short time on gear better than my ability, progression comes easily. This rings true throughout my windsurf/foil journey

That said. A few years ago taught the other half to sail and spent some time on lakes with oldschool gear and played with lightwind freestyle. Think it improved my watercraft and and inspired progression....

Great advice. I crashed a billion times trying to jibe before I figured this out.
