RSX convertion to a foil board?

Found an old RSX, But getting into foiling.
Would it be possible for me to convert it to a foil board (if i sealed up the centreboard case for starters)?

Know nothing of rxs conversion, but if you really want to foil get a foil specific board.
Started with foil and borrowed slalom board, realised I wasn't going to progress very quickly.
A few prudent purchases later progress came easily, scour the second hand market.

Thx, Im tryna get as close as i can to iq foil setup.

Way too long and way too heavy. Let alone mast foot and tuttle box being in the wrong place. A more modern formula board would be much closer to an IQ board.
$ would be better spent on a foil specific race board.
I'm not saying this just because I'm selling one.

A bit more than just filling the centre board slot but a great job of up cycling an obsolete board.

I'd suggest that you get a recent model formula board, then. Too many problems with tail width, mast track and strap placements with an older formula board, though.

Doing a conversion for something like an IQFoil analogue takes decent board hacking/repair skills and a fair amount of proper materials. It's lots of fun but not necessarily a way to save money. Given that you are just getting into foiling, you'd want boards to take measurements from to get dimensions proper.

Have done one upcycle conversion and working on a second.

Agree. If you are using a freeride foil with deep tuttle top, get a later model formula board. What you really want is a board where the finbox front screw is somewhere about the midpoint of the back footstraps. Slalom boards, older formula boards, and RSX had the finbox too far aft.

I started foiling with an older Mike's Lab formula board with the too far aft finbox. There was no way to get the foil to lift. I move the finbox 3" forward ($300US). Problem solved.

You will notice that purpose-built foil boards have the finbox in the right position (front screw position above).

All that said, yes, there is a solution for a board with a too far aft finbox. Mount a race foil on it. The race foil has the front wing further forward of the mast. This compensates for the finbox position. A friend of mine uses a SB race foil with an old iSonic 127 slalom board. It works.

Not mine, saw it on a hydro foil/board build forum. thought it was rather creative, but an adventure for the brave or desperate

My windfoil journey was similar to others starting with a formula board. I think the purpose designed foil board rocker, rail shape, tail cut outs and volume distribution have evolved from fin boards to promote earlier takeoff, and better in flight stability.

Starting with a well balanced foil/board platform will improve your foiling experience.

I learnt on a 137 slalom board with a Flow 1500. I removed the rear footstraps and moved the front footstraps back to suit the position of the front wing. I also moved the sail mast base to the back of the track. This worked, however it was a game changer when I board my Alien 125. The geometry and volume distribution of the board made all aspects of foiling so much easier.

Dont think the RSX is a good model to be adapted. I had a Starboard Formula 162 (year 2006) and changed the foilbox. Worked fine to learn, after getting the right foil and adjusting rake.

Then I switched to a new Starboard Foil 100, and wow the differences are big. The mast base is much near the front straps. The volume of the board totallly different and so starting to fly Is so easier and with less wind.

Dont spend too much on adapting boards, cause you will sooner or later be saving for a dedicated foil board. A used iQFoil or a similar one.

I ended up buying the patrik foil one gear as patrik helps us youths hugely finacially.
