After using 928 wing in light winds I found that it is geared towards a higher wind spectrum in comparison to i99 HG setup. I blamed the upside down smaller stab. Here is what I came up with:

The upper contour is perfectly congruent with the saddle of the fuse, the hole spacing is the same. The resulting angle is the same 3 degrees.
I cut a spacer to fill in the groove in the bottom surface of the stab, drilled and tapered the holes.









Took it to the water in 8-12 knots and found that the take off and no yo-yo stability is back. Now I will fabricate the spacer out of stainless steel instead of softish plastic to give it strength. I might spray the stab black to match the rest. Pretty happy with the result.

Nice the old hoverglide stab definitely has plenty of size glad it worked out.

Thinking outside the box, I like the engineering and glad things are working out.

I have not tested the PFI928 but was intrigued with your comments that it's not as good in light winds as the i99, did you try different track positions because all the new phantasm wings (except for the PFI 730) I had to experiment with different track locations than the hover glide set up using the same board.

Yes i did. It needed about an inch more forward than i99.

This is more confidence inspiring. Had a great sesh this morning. I recomend this easy mod for super light wind spots or for heavier folks.

Took out SabFoil 1100 wing on Phantasm fuse with this modified stab in gusty 6-15 knots sunset winds. Very good impression. Early easy take-off on par with PFI 928, but better glide, acceleration and top speed. Stall speed maybe a touch higher. Comfortably holding speed in gusts. Super stable, well balanced ride upwind and downwind. This wing was unusable with Phantasm stab as I mentioned before.
After a few runs I switched to PTM 926 which I have not had a chance to try before. Very good wing. Surprisingly good lift for the size. Smooth stable ride. Faster than bigger wings of course. Very good match with the HG 42 cm stab, not skatey at all.
The 103 wide carbon mast is stiffer than 92 skinny BTW, duh.I used 7.2 cambered sail on Levitators 150 and 160.

The joy of front wing experimentation. Obviously the front and to a lessor extent the stabs/shims are the piece of kit that most define your foiling experience and being able to experience the different characteristics of various wings is cool.

Nice experiment. So you like the 1100 better than the 928 with the improved stab?

It was beyond my expectations to feel such an effect of a stab on overall performance of a foil kit. Yes, having all these wings that are used between my wife and myself is a bonus

I think I do. There is something in a higher aspect of 1100 that is nice and at this point hard for me to describe. It is thinner too which makes it a much better glider. Pretty amazing in this case how a simple stab change made this marriage between SabFoil and Phantasm go from unacceptable to super enjoyable.

How would the SS 48 stabilizer work with that foil? Anyone try it?

Most likely it won't work. It was designed for pumping on SUP, not for winDfoiling.

I just got a Sabfoil 999 wing and took it out today on my Phantasm fuselage with HG stabilizer. Great impression! This wing has an awesome early lift which I think is equal to 1100 wing. A little more speed and maneuverability, nothing to complain about.

I used in the past i99 and liked it for very light wind days. Now, I am getting this foil set up with 92 mast to try and also teach foiling my daughter. I am curious if you tried to use the original back stabilizer with wings tips are in upward position similar to the Hoverglide 42 stab that you modified. The original stab looks slightly smaller but if it works, I do not have to get extra stab.

Naturally, I did use Phantasm 928 with Phantasm stabilizer. I found that it was quite surprisingly less lifty than i99 setup. Hence, the experiment with Hoverglide 42 stabilizer. I have not flipped the Phantasm stabilizer upside down, if this is your question. It just doesn't make any sense. The mating surfaces would not be congruent. Neither have I used a Phantasm stabilizer on a hoverglide setup. Ptm 926 wing works fine with HG modified stab, but it is better to use Phantasm stab. It is faster and glides better.

can you feel the difference b/ww the 103W mast vs the 92 mast stiffness ? I have been using my 82 because of shallower water.... my 103W I haven't used yet. hopefully today I might.

I use the 92 in light winds with PTM 926 or 930 to minimize drag ( it is thinner)
When the wind picks enough to use the g800 I switch to the 103w.

The 103w is noticeably stiffer
