Hello! I'm looking for information about users who have the Patrik Foil Comp Gen3 79 and 85. What is the distance between the back footstraps in the inner position and the outer position? As I show in the photo. Thank you very much!

My previous idea was to order the new Patrik Foil Slalom, but it looks like is not an easy planning board. And I'm not interested in this kind of board. And in the end I'm looking for some one who test the Patrik Foil Comp Gen3 in 79 and 85 size. I'm not a big guy, only 1.71 and 79-80 kg. Any experiences?

The Foil Comp is a slalom board. If You want something more userfriedly the Foil Race (Freerace) or the Foil Ride ( freeride) would be better.

I have a Foil Race 145, but in my experience it has to much lift when I go faster than 28 knots, and feels nervous. I'm looking for a board who can keep 30 knots without problems, with more neutral feeling, like my Severne Hydro 79. The new Patrik is a board designed 100% for PWA rider, very technical to start, and with a low drag, but user friendly. The massive cutouts are perfect for touchdowns, but need a big effort to start.

There is a guy called phil surfdude I think, he tried a lot of new boards so best to track him down.

I would also consider FMX and Future Fly. Very well build. I have an FMX 91 and does not have a technical take off but it's a bit older.
Lots of people are very happy with FMX.
For a little less built quality compared to those Phantom has sales on the Iris X 79 and 85 mk2's (1300 euro).

Just not as durable as FMX/Future Fly/Patrik.

When I say nervous, is unstable. I had the old Foil Ride 145, and it was a nervous board, but very controllable. The Foil Race 145 have more lift because of the nose. With the Severne Hydro I have a bigger rake (3.2), and more power on estab. And is completely neutral, even in 30 knots of speed. At 28 knots in Patrik Foil Race I need to work more to keep the nose in control.

The information about sail range is on the Patrik website.

It is a little bit confusing. You told us in an other topic, that You already bought the new 80 Patrik Slalom Foil. Now You seem to decide between the gen3 79 or 85 board. Should it replace all Your existing boards (145 foil race, Hydro 79)?

What sail sizes do You want to use, what front wing sizes? This would be a helpful information to give some recommendations.

The 79 Patrik has a optimal sail range up to 6m2, 8 m is posssible but not perfect. The maximal front wing size is 550 (aeon foil). The board does not have enough leverage for a wider front wing.
The 85 has a optimal sail range up to 8.5.

So Your sail and frontwing size will lead the way.

For light wind with bigger sail and bigger front wings the 79 would be not the best option. As one board solution the 85 would be much better in my opinion, even with Your weight of 80 kg.

With 2 boards I would even go bigger with a 89 and Your 79. That is the combo that I have ( fmx hyperion 91 and Phantom 79). The 89 will be better in light wings with big front wing, even if You dont use a 9,0 m2 sail. So why not stay with Yout Hydro 79, that You like and add a 89 for light wind days.

Second option: replace everything with a 85.

79 as one board solution: would not be my choice

I am 95kg and 6'2".

Sail wise the 85 will take a 8.5 and I will change to a smaller board at around the 5.5 size but having said that sometimes if the 85 has its foil on and I'm just going for a quick foil I will take it with 4.6 and it is fine.

I used to have a 9.0 as my biggest sail and a 91 board. I think the rig weight of a 9.0 is too much for the nose area of the 85 to support on any touchdowns.

On more option would be the future fly 145, that is 81 cm wide and sits in between a 79 and 85 wide board. Could be a good match for all your sail sizes.

Thanks a lot for your opinions. Finally I cancelled the order of the new Foil Slalom 80, because is not easy to start planning, and finally I have bought the Foil Comp gen3 85. Finally I will have to boards, the Patrik and my Severne Hydro 79. The best reason to try the Gen 3, is because it has a bigger range than 79.

I am sure for Your weight and your sails with this two boards it will be a perfect setup.
there is a little overlap between this two boards but thats not a bad thing and it gives you a lot of flexibility.
