Got a bic techno foil 130 2020 and looking at buying a foil. Beginner, 60 kg wt and deep Tuttle box. Aiming for cruising, lightwind ~10-15 kts
Currently looking at either the:
- Neil pryde Glide Wind medium
- Slingshot i76
- GoFoil M280
- Supercruiser
wondering if anyone has any experiences with different foils for the techno or any used gear

I'm an unapologetic fan of the Supercruiser, easiest foil I've used and more efficient/better built than the I76. The new wings coming available will offer more performance should you want it.

Fair few guys sailing around Manly on the Fanatic Flow, and the Naish 1150 is worth a look as well.

Simon @ Boardcrazy probably has a few second hand foils, and I think he might have some you can demo as well.

Cheers, it's tempting to just go for the supercruiser. I heard the new ones have switched to a cheaper Chinese alloy in the mast and had a few bend. Not sure if anyone can quantify that

I'd stick with either Slingshot or Starboard. I predict most of the foil companies out there won't be in business, so stick with a brand that will have replacement parts, warranties and options. Slingshot has had quality problems, but do offer a wide range of options. Starboard is a bit pricier, but the quality, engineering and craftsmanship is stellar.

The key things you want to look for are:
Mast: 90cm or greater. Small masts don't offer a lot of room to learn altitude, but longer ones are scarier and need to be controlled well when breaching.
Fuse: 95+cm. 115 is ideal. The longer the fuse, the easier it is to maintain consistent altitude.

Wing and stab size are up to you. Slow? Big and fat wings. Want to blast fast? Wide and thinner.

There is a reason why the Slingshot i76 is crazy popular in Florida AND in the Columbia Gorge.

Good sales, good support, good warranties, good flexibility, good tunability.

Other brands offer all, or most, of this, too, but the Slingshot kit is a no-brainer. You can't go wrong with it. Some people talk about quality problems. However, I have yet to see any quality issues other than the one wing delam that he dealer replaced within seconds without any fuss.

I have a i76 as my snowbird foil in Florida. No need to even look at anything else. It just works.

Right now Slingshot is the best value. Starboard new wing/set up looks promising, but no real evidence if good. And does someone actually know what the wings cost? I would really like to see what the cost of replicating a SS 84/76 to the Supercruiser. I was told by a dealer that their quality has gone down on the boards; nothing about the foils. I am super interested how the Supercruiser will end of costing compared to the Slingshot. And availability is another issue. I would stick with Slingshot, Starboard and Moses for flexible setup.

I am a slingshot fanboy forsure, but I do not see any reason to not start out with the hoverglide system.

It is super modular (many wings to try, easily switches from tuttle to track, has different fuselage positions) and readily available. Big dudes have suffered some failures, but from what I hear these are quickly warrantied. And no system it flawless, some big dudes are also complaining about the relative low stiffness of the moses masts for example.

In spite of issues, I would go with the system that will lead to the most rapid progression of skill, because ultimately that is what matters the most. Slingshot hoverglide may not be the lightest or strongest system, but it certainly has produced most of the best freeride foilers out there (some who have now moved onto other brands).

Whether it was luck or skill slingshot the infininty 76 wing seems to be the current gold-standard for freeride foiling wings, that other brands who focused initially on race foiling are trying to replicate. Of course there will be further development and the 76 may lose it's title in the future but it is a known quantity that takes pretty average sailors and turns them into very good foilers.

Observation:
The back straps are forward of the fin/foil box.
The foil mast is located 30 to 40% from the front of the fuselage.

Techno and Starboard foil (model???) at 15s.

Not the set price. The wings, fuse, another mast, top plate.... details. If I want a SC 1700 aluminum mast with top plate and another size front wing.
