I have two foil boards, a Patrik Foil Race 145, and Severne Hydro 79. The Patrik is a very easy take off board, and friendly use for foil slalom with big sails. But the design of the shape make nervous at high speed (+28 knots), because the nose generate lift and it increases when I go fast. In the other hand the I have the Hydro. More difficult to take because of the cutouts, more long, more heavy, but with an amazing control at high speed, I thing thanks to the neutral design of the nose, and maybe the extra weight. Many times I break the barrier of 30 knots with this board with a perfect feeling of control.
And now I discover this model: www.avboards.com/bokit-foil-slalom-bx-carbon-racefoil/ and have all the qualities of the Severne (long simetrical nose) but and the sane time is light and look like very stable of the aerodinamic design of the shape. But very different of the concept of the other brands. What do you think about this brand and board? I'm thinking seriously to change my to boards to this new board.

I can tell you it works great. It is the same idea as 'midlength' for winging : who cares for a planning hull ? A displacement hull get going to take off speed with less effort. I totally agree with this concept, even for freerider as me.
He also claims that the concave front hull works better at high speed and by having the UJ below the deck, the efforts from the sail to the board have a better balance. That latter point is beyond my comprehension of the mechanic of high speed foiling (wich I am not very interested in).

Looks interesting! Lots of talk about aerodynamics and Americas cup but not a single word about CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics). Time will tell.

Still totally different approach : Patrick as almost everybody remains in the path of getting to foil take off speed by first getting the board to classic windsurf planing. Franck 'round hull' or displacement hull generates less drag at low speed, so you get faster slogging, and as soon as you're moving the foil generates some lift, not enough for take off, but some. The floatation line is thus lower and having a round hull, the wet surface diminish and is significantly narrower, thus generating even less drag. The idea is to get to a smoother acceleration with less sail power (smaller sail). So I would say that planning hull enables more abrupt take off requiring a more energetic take off. 'Round hull' concept enables smoother take off with less sail power, so smaller lighter sail, and once airborn, easier sail control and less drag from the sail at top speed.

Then there is the aerodynamic behavior at high speed. Foiling crosswind at speed 25kt and 20kt wind, apparent wind is about 28kt. Anyone that has carried a 70cm wide board in 28kt knows that wind effect can't be neglected. Now it is hard to tel what board shape gives the more stable in such situation.

Interesting design, always good to see new directions tried. Kinda reminds me of the board scarrgo designed and made some yrs ago, but from memory he was going for more of a "humpless" hull concept, rather than long displacement.

What's with the offshore sailor/offshore designer collaboration? Not sure what they could possibly have to add to a windsurf foil slalom board?

And I thought the Starboard '25 85cm foil board was radical. Certainly gets up easier than past iterations.

I just arrived back in WA & spent the whole weekend with Chris & the Tribal team at the Cervantes Windsurfing Challenge. I was the only Windfoiler there & they failed to mention this development to me ??
Maybe they they weren't impressed with my performances & could see it would be a complete waste of time even telling me ??
It was too windy for me to actually enter the races so just freefoiling ??

Boards are available through Tribal website and the (current) Atmos is their first foiling design...

I almost took my foil kit, maybe next yr I will. Would have been ridiculously fun/hard out on the course but Stropp had a ball on the foil

More technical to get going but a weapon once up. For slalom racing

The bevelled bottoms are nothing new. Did this back in 2018. Bit harder to get going but super smooth on touch downs.
