Be interesting to see how this settles. Starboard/Severne are pushing the iqfoil youth package as an OD youth solution, using the iqfoil 85cm starlite board and iqfoil foil (alu mast) and iqfoil rig (alu boom). Whilst its more expensive it makes the step up to full Adult iqfoil gear smoother and a bit cheaper (and its cooler). Im not sure how many kids under 15/16 are ready for foil racing - a small subset if the Techno fleet. Seems pretty natural to transition to foil racing in final year of Techno.

Definately not the same board. We have the board at our club already, and I think its a better option than the Starboard Starlite. Far, far more durable as its made with the original BIC plastic outer skin. If kids learn to foil on a Starboard constructed board I think they can throw it in the trash when they move to the big board. The bic is indestructable, keeps resale value better I think.

Quite a nice board for freeriding too, only used it with a fin, but its quite quick to plane, although its not that fast. As a plus it is very easy to plane through the jibe, I think one of the easiest boards I've ever jibed, because of the amount of volume in the tail.

To me it felt a lot bigger than 130L.

What don't you like about the IQfoil starlite besides durability?

My starlite 4in1 seems seriously robust and my daughters technos are continually needing repairs - but thats more how she treats them on the side if concrete bowl reservoirs and how much use they have had than a criticism of Bic

Hahah, nothing, havent tried the board, only different starlite boards. And granted, for a windsurfboard they are relatively durable, but the BIC plastic stuff is just unbeatable.

yes Starlites are really tough and probably more attractive to kids than a plastic board, which is also very difficult to repair if needed.

most important is the iq youth is an easier/ cheaper way to the olympics. Upgrading some parts instead of replacing the whole kit.
