It would be great if you could share more of the experience with the wing / foil / board you used.

I would be quite surprised if you need to be 70kg to go in 25 kts, before this works?
But you are correct that all the small clips we have seen so far, has been looking quite windy, and I guess there is a limit where the wing get's to big and hit the water etc., to make it efficient in super light wind.

Still I would say, that with the knowledge of the super early lifting foils, we use on the windfoils down to 8 kts with 5.7, that I would be surprised if it don't have some potential for a bit of fun. Maybe from 14kts or so ( just guessing here)

Like it is pointed out above, with some small running swell going downwind sounds like fun.

I wonder if you can go back upwind back to where you started?
Maybe you would know , if you tested it out.

Anyway all a bit of a guessing for now :)

Sorry should have pointed out that that info is from reports from Europe from those witnessing development by some Euro companies. Not naming any but that's already public info.
These will have a niche amongst those accomplished Sup foilers that Tony Log... refers to.

But can we please back away from the marketing BS that those in desperate need of a sales gamechanger will peddle.

I think if its a 3m or something 14-15kts should be enough to get going with an adequate wing, i need about that wind with a 3.6 sail. To me it doesn't add much to have this kind of inflatable wing and I think I'm not gonna buy one. Maybe if you're downwinding on the foil and occasionally need just that little extra bit of power or something this could be an option.

I know I have to flap a loosely rigged 6.5 sail like crazy to get going in 10-12 mph on foil and I know from kiting that it takes a lot of pull in lightwinds to waterstart. I never expect there to be a decent lightwind use for these things but they still look fun. I expect to see SUPers downwind with them in the Gorge this summer on the 25mph+ plus days they would otherwise have been paddling. It always seemed crazy to me they'd be paddling like mad to get going on a big swell while all this amazing wind was just blowing at their backs. Now they'll be able to take advantage of it and I expect they'll be having even more fun.

You make a good point - it may not be our fun but it will be fun for someone. I keep thinking some of those paddlers will tire and figure a sail would make it easier but surprisingly few do.

Also consider that power delivery of a windsurfing sail is far more than an inflatable kite. So your 3.7 is probably closer to 8-9 in kite design.
factor in loss of power transfer in pumping by comparison.
But maybe using a wave to get foiling then the wing to gain upwind.
maybe I'm getting the marketing wrong but saying this will bring non wind power sailors into our sport is a bit optimistic.

So can I use this with my mal? because it would me so much less kit, when I go on holidays. Only thing to add would have to be a harness.
