Hoping I can get some advice here that hours on-line has so far failed to yield.
If I was looking at a foil for a Naish Hover 122 (2019-ish), would I be better with the Naish Thrust WS-2 or the Pryde GlideWind?
Intermediate/experienced sailboarder, newbie to foiling, somewhere around 80kg, looking at learning and light-wind non-competitive use.
Pros and cons?
Any thoughts much appreciated.

I would go with the pryde over a 2019 naish foil, but never tried either.

I'm not 100% sure on this but I think the Thrust , being Naish, might be better matched to your Naish board. In any case I wouldn't buy any foil gear 2019 or earlier. Don't know about the NP Glide, but the Thrust foils are 2018 and 2019 and are no where near as good as the Naish stuff from 2020 onwards. Foil tech has come along way in a short period. I think it is safe to say this is probably the case for all brands. I've heard people say the Thrusts are **** in comparison to the Naish 2020 and later Windsurf and non Windsurf foil gear. Also u don't have to get a "windsurf" foil wings or a complete foil. I learnt on the 2020 Naish Jet 1250 ( surf foil ) on a 120L Naish Hover Crossover ( I weigh 80kg ) and this worked well. It was easier than what their Freeride windsurf wing would have been (the windsurf 1150). It has more lift, ( for easier , earlier , slower and more controlled take offs), is slower in speed and acceleration yet still quick enough for learning and progressing a bit, is more stable and generally easier to use all round. You'll also get a good wind range from this size (1250) with only a few sails. Make sure you get the right size fuselage for the board you have. You might have call a shop or try here. Also, if you by 2018, 2019 you'll have incompatibility issues with bits and pieces when or if you want to get different front wings and stabilisers. Naish's foil equipment compatibility is pretty good from 2020 on, and there will be far more 2020 and later second hand gear around than pre 2020.
By the way, I have a 2021 Naish Freeride Winsurf, 1150 , front wing for sale here on Seabreeze. Very good condition for $250 which is a good price. You could get this maybe to advance to from an easier wing, or buy it strait away and try it. Just thought I'd mention it.

And you don't have to match board brand with foil brand. Just make sure your board has a dual track foil box for foil adjustment and is not Tuttle box.

Agree with Sambo, Naish 2020 forwards, make sure the fuse is for windsurfing not for winging and at least 80 cm long

No experience with Glide , but you need a plate mount for the board and a fuse at least 80 cm long.

The Hover 122 is a great board, I had a lot of fun and it was fast, but only suited to small sails, I would say any bigger that 5.8 and the tail will feel too narrow. But still plenty to go out in light winds and learn.

General considerations for learning.
1 - get a board with plate mount (2 parallel us boxes ), because will allow you to move the foil to get balanced, which is the fundamental first step
2 - try and get a large front wing so you can fly at slow speed with a small sail (at least 1250, but you can get a larger one and use it after for very light sessions)

3 - the early foils had a short mast around 70cm, which is good for learning but not for advancing. Try and get a mast at least 85 long

For light wind I'd go with , if you go with Naish, the 1450 front wing. Make sure you get matching Stabilizer. You can also use different size stabilizers to power or depower your foil. Id start with the specified one for the wing your buying though when starting out.

As the Door mentioned as well, a Slingshot hoverglide with the i76 front wing would be good too. It's about or close to 1450cm2(the front wing) .
I haven't used one but a lot of people say good things about them for beginner to intermediate foiling.

Or fork out on a system that you can add too in the future. Ie patrik foils are totally interchangeable with all wings fuses masts etc. long term may be cheaper option. I'm not sure how other brands go with inter changing components.

I have a nice SAB/Mosus carbon foil but lso a mutch older and cheap aluminium NP glide foil (all blue) and this NP Glide foil is also a very nice windfoil! only the mast is a bit short (80 cm)

Sure, the newer foils are a bit easier to learn on, but I learnt to foil on the Naish WS1 (the original one) and had a great time.
If you are on a super tight budget, then why not. If you don't mind paying a bit more, than newer stuff is a bit more user friendly.

Be careful putting anything other than a Naish foil on that board. There is a channel which may be too narrow to fit other foils.
