I have bought a second hand Naish Lift 4.7.

I am used to the North Sails / Duotone Visual Trim System, which si very clear about downhaul /outhaul adjustment.

I cannot find anything similar for Naish ;

And the lift is a very special sail with a tight leach, so I cannot rely on my experience, such as downhaul so that the leach is loose until the 3rd panel, etc.


I am wondering if there should be any visual clue that the downhaul is enough.

Can the downhaul be adjusted slightly as for a normal sail ?

What about the outhaul ? Is there a known range ?

I am experimenting with the adjustments, but willing to take advices! A nd I also want to make sure I do not go too far and risk of breaking a batten.

For my 2018 lift I just downhaul to a little less than spec of 370 + 10cm. I don't ever adjust this (probably should experiment a bit with that). For outhaul I add 10-12 cm to their boom spec of 174. I attach the boom higher than normal. I want it pretty flat. Sometimes if it drops I release the out haul an inch

It is an experimentation thing unfortunately.
Go with the settings on the sail and you will be pretty much there (depending on mast used)
I tend to rig it based on the top batten. When the top batten is pulling away from the mast its enough downhaul. If its windy and you think you may have plenty of power the also start pulling the next batten away from the mast.
Its all about the soft middle section being able to bow out when needed and if you pull too much DH you stop that happening. Once I've got the sail sorted for DH I then just set the out haul with the clew touching the boom tail. If its then a bit too windy I then pull another 5-10cm of boom extension and set it touching boom tail again. There really isn't much more you can do as they are designed to be very punchy and light at the expense of top end control.
