Hi there just wondering if anyone has experience with Naish 6.4 Lift sail. I am 90 kg and trying to figure out what to use as a replacement for old 7.2 raf jet as a light wind sail for foiling. I use 145 naish board and 1150 or XL Naish wings

Big fan of the 5.7 lift, but have never tried the 6.4 or the newer lift freeride sails

I have both the 6.4 and the 5.7 Lifts sails.
They are both excellent for getting you up and running in light winds but do tend to top out quite quickly with speed.
They can be flattened to extend the wind range a little.

Although the 6.4 gets me going in very light winds, my lowest for getting going is 12mph I find that the 5.7 gets me going just as quick but with a bit more effort. Once up the 5.7 feels much lighter and dynamic whereas the 6.4 is very back handed and feels hard work to find the sweet spot. I tend to use the 5.7 all the time now.

Foils I84 and I99.

I would say that the 5.7 lift is comparable to a 6.5-7.0 m traditional sail and the 6.4m is comparable to a 7.5 -8.0 traditional sail.
They are insanely lightweight and very easy to pump.

I did a review of the Lift last year.
At the end of the presentation there is some film of me getting it up and running. Its the 5.7m and you can see the winds are very light. That was with my I84 front wing. Im now using the I99 and I get up slightly earlier.

Try to get one in your hands. I bought a 5.7 blind but tried it only once, yet. Feels quite different to a normal sail. There is no stability in the back hand when you are slogging. Like to push with my back hand in tacks but this does not feel right with the lift.

They go upwind fine. Last time out on the i99 with 5.7m I was doing mile long runs and able to go almost 1/4 mile upwind so i could downwind the swells on the way back in. Would say the wind was 12-15 mph. Friend was on a 6.5m Slalom type sail and was slightly more upwind but on a smaller foil and much faster.

Did you try it rigged flat or more baggy?

Sail was set to standard with 192cm boom length. I have read some comments on the previous year Modell, which had 194 standard boom length, that it could be operated at -8cm to increase Low-end. Maybe I have to check downhaul in detail. Might have been too low.

I use the 5.7 in winds around 10-15 knots and it's great for pumping me up on the foil. Haven't used the 6.4 lift. The 5.7 is very light and has lots of low end grunt - way more than my severne NCX 6.5. But as Helliboy said, it tops out a lot earlier than a conventional sail. I'm 70kg.

I rig both my 2018 and 2019 models with about 10-12 cm extra boom than the recommend, but my boom is attached higher than normal to compensate for the low clew. I want my boom lined up with than black diagonal line on the sail.

I find if it is baggy my pumps produce less power, so even if its light I keep them pretty flat, which is counter intuitive.

Thanks. That was the hint I needed. Meassuring length from clew to mast shows, that when moving from middle to high position of the boom, I have to extend boom length by +6cm. have not experienced that on my other sails, yet. Feels much better already.

Ive used the 5.7 Lift a couple of times since I posted and I have rigged it a little flatter with more downhaul. It seems to give me the same power to pump but seems to give me a little better upwind and speed. I may try to same with the 6.4m. It may make it feel a little lighter.

I love the lifts for their low end pumpability, but all the ones I have seen rigged on the beach have the boom too low and way too little outhaul, at least for how I like them

Only downside is the long boom, which makes duck gybing harder and they don't do so good at higher board speeds.

My 3.7 in storm winds is fine if I have my slower wing (i76), although I would probably use my wave sails in those conditions now. But i did not enjoy the lift on my faster wing (i65) possibly because I had to carry more sail and the higher board speeds.

Other sails to consider for foiling is Ezzy hydra and Sailworks Flyer. Flyer 8.2 gives me pretty good low-wind performance and also I could use this sail for regular windsurfing when the wind picks-up. It is a high aspect ratio sail and both Ezzy and Sailworks are extremely light sails.
