I have designed and had made a titanium fuselage with 2 different length tail pieces for free foiling. It suits OneOcean, Axis, Konrad front wings and masts. Also designed and had machined from T400 carbon a front wing...sort of a manoeuvre oriented allrounder, 890cm2 AR8.1. They could only machine to 70 cm span thus the glue on tips. I am out of action at the moment but super keen to try it all very soon.

interesting carbon wing manufacturing technique. With the same centre section you could glue on small medium and large wingtips .. Fewer molds/ parts to build and store.

Berowne.....It is really only for 1 offs, could be a good technique for initial prototypes. I really just wanted to try it and see how well it worked. I have done stabilisers like this and they are really good. There is another company that can machine to 100cm span but they required me to purchase a full sheet of carbon which was very expensive, could probably get 4 or 5 wings out of it.
They do end up a bit heavy but not a big deal for me as I am not jumping or doing freestyle stuff... for me it is about trying different foil shapes and learning...
I am hoping to be back on the water next weekend so hopefully the weather co-operates..really keen to see how iyt goes as I have done a bit of experimental stuff with the foil profiles and twist.

So I used the CNC front wing yesterday, not on the titanium fuse as I still need to organise the mast so on my alum 92cm fuselage. Solid 20 knots gusting to maybe 23....Loved it!!!!.......Not as lifty as I expected ( may have to slide the foil mast a touch further forward, but super stable, smooth and fun. It turns well, not super loose on the roll actually very stable but responds really nicely to a bit of rail pressure and whips around. But my overwhelming surprise was how SMOOTH and user friendly it is. Its a wing that instantly felt like I had been riding it for ages, no quirks, easy and fun.
The glide was obviously not amazing as its only AR 8.1 but I could sit on the bay swell easily and if it fell back I just gave it a bit of sail power and off it went again. Not a race winner but the speed felt pretty good...might wear the GPS next time to get an idea of its speed potential.
Oh, and the glued on tips are still there which is a win
Might do a smaller version now with a little more lift as I have enough carbon left...( I think) I reckon this is a great way of prototyping small wings and doing 1 offs....

Ah...the mythical does everything foil. Fastest, most radical turner with gravity defying glide. I want one too!!!

I have been using this CNC cut front wing lots so can now give a good review. Firstly the experiment with making a wing from carbon plate is a success...the caviet being it is a bit heavy and I dont think you could make a large span wing this way and keep it stiff enough. This one is rock solid and no sign of the tip joints failing...
I am really enjoying this wing...It was designed as a wing i use in windier powered up conditions thus I decided on a lower AR which is 8.1. ( the fact that I was nervous about making the glued on tips too long factored into this as well). Its really easy to use, very stable regardless of the shortish span, reasonably fast and turns great. And smooth.................... The downside is the low AR lacks a bit of glide and it likes to be powered up.....
The main experiment on this wings was the profiles I used and the glue on tips. What I did on this one was rather than only adding washout on the tips I ran twist the entire way along the wing. I then tuned the foil profiles to the twist, so it starts off with a more conventional profile at the root where the AOA is 1.2 degrees then becomes more rear loaded as the angle flattens out ( rear loaded profiles have their drag bucket at lower AOA and into negative AOA) I am not sure if this is the reason or not for this wing feeling so stable and smooth, but it is silky...........
So this is a great wing for powered up conditions...... At some point in the future I may do another with an AR closer to 9.5- 10 which will improve the glide. Overall though I am very happy with the experiment....
