Anyone tried one? Is it basically the new 790?
Obligatory Balz video (the guy is such a show off!):

Apparently it behaves like a scaled down version of the Moses 1100. Better upwind than the 790 and a little faster with better pumping and glide.

Here's a review from a winging point-of-view.

Nice video. The music sounds like a Swiss dialect. Does anybody know what lake this is?

I am fairly certain that the lake is called "Bielersee", next to Biel. I think he is from the area. Just a guess. Music is Swiss dialect.

Now I know why he wings so much. The guy is freaking amazing on a windfoil - he needs more challenges.

In the video comments Balz compares it to the 790. I am wondering if there is a general trend of high aspect foils taking over even the freeride part of the market.

Don't call it a dialect talking to athe Swiss. They're proud of having their own language!
I wouldn't be surprised if relatively high aspect foils would become widespread. They're just more efficient.
If control and user-friendliness are achieved with a high aspect ratio, you wouldn't want to accept the drag penalty of a shovel-shaped low aspect foil. I haven't had any experience with low aspect foils yet, so I can't compare.

I foil with both low AR (i76) and high AR (AFS and Moses and LP) wings. They all work. Yes, there is some difference in speed range. However, the biggest difference I notice is how they stall. The i76 has a nice friendly mushy stall, while the high AR wings have a sharp stall.

Funny about the word dialect. I am very familiar with the Austrian dialects. I speak Styrian myself. Even they consider their dialects as separate languages altogether. It's a pride thing. They don't even want the word "German" to be applied to their versions of--well--German.

Well, the Swiss in the northern part learn High German "Hochdeutsch" in school and speak "Schweizerdeutsch" among friends. The word German (Deutsch) is in the Swiss German language. It is a dialect, but the writing is something else. I speak both "Hochdeutsch" and "Schweizerdeutsch", can write in proper German but never learned to write in Swiss German. It is just to weird and wasn't worth my time to learn. To me, the language always sounded bad and I have a hard time listening to Swiss songs. Most of the younger generation (genx and up) don't really care for folks music. Back to foiling. Sorry.

Yeah, right! Sorry for starting this. I'm just imagining most of the forum scratching their haeads in which way a Swiss, a Styrian and a Bavarian (me) discussing Swiss ways of speaking are relevant for foiling in Australia.
Indeed, back to foiling!

I'm just wondering what to get for more bottom end vs my 683. I'm 70 kgs and not willing to use anything bigger than a 4.8. I was considering the 790 and the 1100 and now the 950. Now I'm wondering if at my weight (and max sail size) neither will make much difference to the bottom end, just reduce the top end.

Since I am sitting here looking outside at 10 inches of fresh snow (Columbia Gorge), thinking about German dialects is about all I can do. My wife is a native of Styria in Austria (so is the governator). You're right about the handwriting. Her parents wrote in what they call Kurrent. Hard to read. I printed a "rosetta stone" for it once.

Oh yeah, foiling. Once we get our second vaccine shot next week, we will head to Florida for a month of foiling. If, that is, I can dig out of our driveway to get to the airport. And if, that is, Biden does not close all state borders.

I wonder how much difference in performance between W790 and W950? Would it make sense to have W950 for very light days or W1100 is better LW?
